I was born and raised in Central America, specifically El Salvador and Guatemala, where I obtained my high school diploma. I then came to the US in 2012 with the dream of obtaining a college degree and began my college journey at North Hennepin Community College, where I completed two years of general studies. During my time at NHCC I was the president of the Hispanic Student Association (HAS) and a Spanish Tutor. I then obtained my BA in Linguistics with a focus in Interpreting and Translation from Bethel University in St. Paul.
During my time at Bethel I found his passion for working with students and the community. I was a Cultural Connection Ambassador, peer mentor for incoming Latinx students, and a Spanish and ASL teaching assistant. Since my time in college I have worked as a Medical Interpreter at Children’s Hospitals of MN and as a youth program coordinator for CLUES. I have a passion for linguistic and cultural preservation and promotion, higher education and community development.
I am also trained as a College Admissions Specialist, I am a Certified Healthcare Interpreter, and fun fact, I am also a certified Zumba instructor. I am so grateful for all the opportunities I have had and I am working hard to share my language skills with others in the community.
