    About Samiha M.

Samiha Matin is a creative writer and teacher, with experiences in social media marketing, journalism, customer service, and residential life. She graduated from University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Arts in English, Creative Writing, and Religion History. She also has a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (Fiction) from University of Arizona. Students can expect to improve as soon as a week in their writing abilities. I provide a rigorous schedule that will inspire students to write daily — on topics of their choices, as well as a diverse array that they might not have ever imagined coming across. Under my tutelage, students will find that they greatly enjoy writing and are able to think more critically and soundly about the world and literature produced around them. I am a very flexible teacher. Online and offline, I always create a safe space where my students can thrive and be very productive. In my classrooms, students go through a period of drafting, revising, reediting, and reflecting to improve their writing. They also get large amounts of feedback from me. As a writer myself, I have published widely in national newspapers since the age of 15, and have also worked as a journalist for my campus newspaper 'The Michigan Daily.' I am fond of fiction, non-fiction and poetry and read widely across genres. Any day you can find me with a book and a piece of paper where I'm constantly scribbling thoughts. By giving students a toolbox that they can carry for the rest of their lives, I hope they will produce literature that is diverse, essential, and truly thought-provoking. Hope you join me for this ride!
