    About Ron M.

My name is Dr. Ron M. Are you wanting to learn more about American Sign Language and Deaf Culture? I have been using American Sign Language my entire life. It has helped me work with my deaf and hard of hearing students throughout my professional career and I use it on a daily basis for my own communication needs. During the day, I work as an Assistant Director of Special Education for a local school district. I am responsible for over 800 children with disabilities and their educational programs. In the evenings, I teach at the University of Kansas (K.U.) I have also been teaching American Sign Language (ASL) for the past 19 years. I have been using ASL my entire life. I am a licensed Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. I am also a graduate of Gallaudet University. My wife and I have been married for 33 years. We have three children who can hear but know American Sign Language. Joel is 26 and an accountant. Chelsea is 25 and a Child Advocate for abused and neglected children. Andrew is 21 and studying to be an elementary school teacher. We have been foster parents for 14 years and raised 56 children with disabilities. If you feel you have a "passion" for American Sign Language, I would love to work with you on developing your expressive and receptive skills.
