    About Rochelle G.

Salvete discipuli! Greetings students! You are here because you are a passionate, curious person. You have found a kindred spirit in me! My own journey learning Latin began in 7th grade. I enrolled in the course to satisfy a graduation requirement, but quickly realized that the study of the Latin language and Roman civilization satisfied the unrequieted inquiries of the soul enabling me to communicate with the past in order to comprehend the present world. Along the way I have been inspired through acquaintance with Latin to study linguistics, paleography, calligraphy, bibliography, Illuminated Manuscripts, archaeology, anthropology, ethnology, economics and politics. I studied at the University of Rochester where I earned my BA in Classics in 2003. I then pursued my Master's in Latin and Classical Humanities from UMASS Amherst in 2005. While enrolled at UMASS I taught the collegiate introductory sequence for four semesters. I moved to Virginia in 2005 where I developed a new curriculum and taught Latin in a public high school. Here I began implementing my philological approach to teaching and learning. In 2007 I relocated to New York where I am certified and have been teaching both in person and in recent years also online. I immensely enjoy working alongside students, incorporating their talents, needs and interests into a memorable, relevant program of study. I hope to have the opportunity to work with you soon. Valete!
