I am an easy going, knowledgable and creative teacher. I strive to put the students and their personal needs first. I'm very aware that each student/person learns differently and I incorporate various strategies of learning into my lessons. There is a lot of humor and dialogue with my lessons, allowing my students the freedom to be themselves while playing.
As a school teacher, I have lots of experience in building student confidence and knowledge. If you aren't confident then you aren't progressing!
I like to record my students at different intervals of their education so they can hear the progress! I email a lesson recap after every lesson so that the student can see what we learned that week, including any notes/attachments for the student to review.
I also encourage my students to text/email/ or call with any questions/concerns between lessons. This gives my students the ability to get through a challenging or difficult concept/strategy when its happening and not have to wait till the next lesson.

Intensive 6 month program ( 30 hours in class a week) that focused on air craft electronics for the US Marine Corps. This laid a solid foundation in troubleshooting that I have used ever since in solving problems and figuring out complicated puzzles. Learning music is very similar in that many pieces have to be broken down and this requires patience and puzzle solving skills :)+ Read More

I try to teach myself guitar through the internet... and I think it back fired. Rob was able to work with me with my odd mixed background. He has the great ability to work with you and utilize what you already know to help learning new material. We got started by reworking some foundational issue and some music theories. Then we added some finger exercises to build up strength and dexterity. We also set some short term and long term goals to work towards and look forward to. To top it off, he is able to work around my miserable schedule and is very flexible to accommodate my needs. I should have just saved myself the headaches and take some lessons right away instead of trusting the internet (never trust the internet). Highly recommend.+ Read More
Recently I have wanted to play the guitar and went to Rob for help. I am very much a beginner but I like the progress that I have made so far. Some of the chords were difficult for my small hands to produce so Rob showed me alternate finger positions from what I saw online that helped me produce the chord to play some simple songs after just a few hours of practice. Rob also showed me why some musicians hold their fingers a certain way that made sense to me. He really understands the "logic" behind why the different strings produce a certain note and related it back to the piano for me since I knew a little about that. He helped me get started plucking individual strings as I play certain chords. Rob has been patient with me as I struggle to remember which finger. He is patient, kind and very logical in his approach to music.+ Read More
