About Renee H.

Your first lesson with me will be fun and exciting. You will learn how to play a fun simple song and scales and rhythm. I measure your success by how well you practice using the techniques I give you, I also measure progress according to how many times a week you practice, I am committed to inspire people of all ages and skill levels to learn more about music. I believe that music for every individual should be a pleasurable learning experience.

Whether you are a beginner or advanced musician or vocalist. I welcome all students of all ages encouraging them. I like to motivate all students to succeed. After 3 to 6 months with you, you will have learned how to play simple songs, 12 scales and read the lines and spaces of Treble and Bass Clef and play 3 rhythm patterns

I would expect my students to have their own keyboard/piano.

*** Specialties ***
The curriculum that I prefer is The David Carr Glover Method, Pre- Reading Books for Beginners, Popular Piano by Hal Leonard, Sight Reading and Rhythm Everyday. I teach Classical, Pop, Jazz, Gospel and Contemporary Gospel.

I have a Bachelor degree from the University of Dayton in Music Therapy with an emphasis on piano, voice and music theory. I have been teaching children from age five to adult for over 12 years. In 1995, I taught children from Kindergarten to 4th grade Music at Liberty Christain Cathedral. In 2000 I worked at The Dayton Academy teaching music classes to elementary school children. In 2006, I taught voice to a school choir at Nehemiah University. In 2007 I successfully taught voice and performance to a Senior Choir at Wesley Community Center. The Senior Choir had many Choir performances. Also in 2007, I taught voice lessons and keyboard lessons to a youth choir at Maranatha Worship Center for seven years. I conducted a Black History choir and several Christmas Plays. I have successfully taught students in the past who have become music teachers and music directors in a church or school setting. I have taught students from various backgrounds. Music is my passion because it is international communication. It ministers to my soul and spirit.

She is continuing where my previous instructor left off. I would think it is difficult to
step in and continue another instructors work but she is doing that so far. I received some tips to improve my singing.

Renee's expertise in teaching and passion of music is most evident in her approach. Her philosophy is such that a vocalist is make better by knowing and being able to play notes - and she's right!

My son's review of her is, "She is the best teacher ever!"

Renee is very knowledgeable, but also has the God given gift of teaching. She truly pulls the best out of my son. His diligence and focus are growing, right along side of his piano skills. We could not recommend her more highly.
