Learn Algebraic Concepts in a fun and engaging way from a teacher with 20+ years of experience.

Hi, my students like to call me Mrs. S. ! I’m passionate about Math education because I myself struggled in Math until my 7th grade Algebra teacher explained concpets to me in a fun and engaging way. Since then, I've always loved Math. It was then that I realized the immense impact a great teacher can have on a student. My expertise especially lies in teaching Algebra and Geometry. My teaching style is to break concepts into smaller and manageable chunks instead of overloading a student with too much information all at once. I teach students how to work through a problem step-by-step. My goal is to help students understand the WHY behind what they are doing at each step. I believe that learning should be fun and engaging and Math learning should go beyond solving worksheet upon worksheet. I always include interactive games and activities. For example, in my classroom, students complete scavenger hunts, Bingo games, Jeopardy games, solve a Murder Mystery and create art projects all using Algebraic and Geometric concepts. I am a mother of 3, and because each of my children has a different learning style, I like to keep in mind my students' individual learning styles when I create lessons for them.

    About Rani S.

I am an educator with over 20 years of experience teaching and tutoring. I have an Electrical Engineering degree, an Early Childhood Education Certificate, a Teaching Credential in Mathematics, and a passion for Science and Math education. My area of expertise lies in Algebra 1, but I also excel in Geometry and other areas of math. I am passionate about helping students achieve that "aha" moment, where they fully understand a concept. Math builds on itself, and is a subject that students will encounter at all levels of education. This is why I try to build a deeper understanding of concepts so that my students are successful in Math not just today but also for future Math classes. I welcome and encourage my students to ask clarifying questions. My goal is to help students understand what they are working on rather than just "get through" their math problems. Many students are reluctant to ask questions for fear of asking (what students label as) a "dumb question". I like to meet students where they are at in their learning, and their questions allow me to focus on where a student needs the most support. I strongly believe in the power of interactive learning not only to make lessons interesting but also to be able to support varied learning styles. Through personalized lesson plans and one-on-one interactions, I aim to instill a student's confidence in their Mathematical abilities while simultaneously improving my students' academic performance
