Chemistry

Levels Taught:
High School, College
Chemistry, especially when you first learn it, seems to make no sense at all.

A large part of chemistry is being able to zoom out, look at the bigger picture, and develop a keen sense for the chemical properties around us. By working with students to build a foundation for the chemical principles, I will prepare students for future courses in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, organic chemistry, and any upper level chemistry courses that require a deep understanding of the basic foundations. Through different examples and breakdowns of the problems, we will develop critical thinking skills that will help the student approach chemistry with a refreshing attitude.

I am a student at the University of Rochester, majoring in Neuroscience. I am also minoring in chemistry and psychology, and studying mind-body somatics. I am committed to working hard to help people better understand the world around us - whether by means of exploring the sciences, or by promoting communication to foster intellectually rich environments.

I've been tutoring since I was a junior in high school. I tutored Spanish for students who were struggling with the language, and I worked with each student to reach their personal goals.

As a teaching assistant for the Biology department at my University, I have worked with all kinds of students. Some hated biology and some loved biology. My excitement for the sciences and my genuine care to make sure my students actually understand the material helped me connect with the different personalities that came into my classroom.

As a current student, and as someone that has taken education courses, I know what it takes to be a helpful tutor. I value my ability to listen to my students and to really hear their needs, and to help them learn lifelong lessons that they can carry into any classroom, to master any subject.

10/10 Reccommend!!!! Let me just start out by saying that I do not like math and never have. I struggled a lot of my classes but after my mom hired Payal, I didn’t hate it so much. The problems became simpler and I didn’t stress out as much as I used to. I owe a lot to her!

Payal is an amazing teacher! When I had her for a TA, she was fully attentive to our class and always made the topics interesting and engaging. Whenever she noticed we didn't understand a topic or concept, she was determined to help us learn it! Not only that, but I felt fully comfortable to reach out to her directly and let her know if I was struggling and ask for help. She was always willing to help and make time for her students because she truly cared for our success!
