About Pamela H.
Currently accepting only high school and college students. I have a Masters in French from Middlebury College, renown for its language schools, as well as 15 years of classroom experience at the middle and high school levels. During my tenure as a classroom teacher I worked with individual students on a regular basis and for the last five years, I have been tutoring exclusively.
There are many fun & interesting aspects of French and it is a real pleasure for me to see my students progress. I try as quickly as possible to identify the problem areas, help my students overcome them and also suggest helpful study skills. The ultimate goal is that they become confident learners who see and are pleased with their own progress. I am very patient.
While studying for my Masters I lived in Paris. Since then, various summer courses and teacher workhops have led me to Auvergne, Normandy, Lorraine, and Montreal where I also lived with local families.
I hope to meet you soon!
Madame Pamela is the best French tutor on the face o the earth. I know, I know, as you’re reading this you’re likely saying: “Mmmhm. There’s NO WAY that someone can be to the caliber to that I would be this enthusiastic about them.” YOU ARE WRONG! If you still don’t believe me... here was my situation. I started French 1 in 6th grade in school. I advanced to French 2 in my seventh grade year. However, at the end of that year, I made a cross-country move to Covina, CA. Unfortunately, the school I went to didn’t have French at all so I had to go a year without it. [Insert Madame Pamela!] She helped me not only maintain my proficiency, but also accelerate it enough that I could advance into French 3 Honors at one of the most prestigious public high schools in the Los Angeles area: Walnut High School! I met with her weekly for an hour in my home. Her teaching style helps information stick in your brain and never leave. She has taught me pages of vocabulary, important grammar rules, and immersed me into authentic French culture with Parisian idioms and expressions— all the while never making it boring or monotone! She has a great, funny personality and will always keep you laughing! She will also change or alter lessons to certain things that you have a particular interest in! She is also VERY flexible! She adapts to your schedule. For example: She will ask you how much time you have every week for homework and practice and assign accordingly. She will understand if there is a reason why you couldn’t complete the assignment and will not be stale about it. She is willing to change her schedule or alter times and meeting days based off of what you have going on. She tries everything in her ability to help you be successful even if it means a little extra work on her part outside of lessons! She hasn’t only helped me though, she has also helped students pass AP exams, IB exams and even was a French teacher as well! She will gladly welcome you to keep in touch with her even after lessons have ceased! So adults, parents, teenagers, and children, whether you have an endgame, need some extra practice in addition to school, or even just want to learn French on the side as a hobby, Madame Pamela is the best French tutor anyone could ever ask for!Show More
Pamela is very patient and knows her subject! My daughter really enjoyed her easygoing style. Our money was well invested, as Pamela takes her work seriously and much is accomplished in every session. She is a real gem!
