Before the lessons, I like to talk with parents, students, and/or teachers to fully gauge what they have been struggling with and how to best help them. Then I identify the student's gap in knowledge while helping them complete their homework and give them additional drilling problems as needed to help them fully master the materials and do well on their tests. I always carry around books containing extra problems depending on the students' levels and goals.
Since geometry questions, especially proofs, are not very obvious, I often gift students a list of things to look for to help them identify how to approach the proofs,
I have taught students anywhere from 4th grade to adults, including college algebra. I especially have extensive experience with gifted students, and I also have helped students with the math competition problems, such as AMC and Kangaroo Math, and other enrichment problems, such as Russian Math and math scholarship papers.
For the best results, I recommend 1.5-hour of lessons twice a week. However, this will also depend on the student's mathematical background. If this schedule does not work for you though, I would love to discuss with you so that we can come up with schedule that works well for you. “I would not have passed my test in such a short time without her. I hired her a week before my test. She was very professional and very smart, and she used different technique to help me remember.”
“My daughter is so happy about her A in math. Thank you for everything you are teaching her!”

I'm an MIT tutor specializing in math and test prep, and I have taught math (anywhere from prealgebra to calculus) for 5 years. I have gotten perfect scores on SAT Math, SAT Math 2, and ACT Math. I also have taken AP Calc BC, AP Chem, and AP Bio. I have been an active member of math team throughout secondary school, and my sister and I solve math problems for fun in our spare time. I am especially experienced with the gifted students.
I believe in deep learning. Deep learning helps students build strong foundations to succeed in future courses. To facilitate this type of learning, I show how the formulas are derived and drill the students on concepts until they fully master the materials.
