Hello!
My name is Myreah, but you may refer to me as Mya for short.
I have been teaching my own children basic subjects on an Elementary level since 2014. In college, I studied Human Services, Sociology, and Psychology. I'm a perfectionist, so I work extremely hard to reach my goal(s).
Why am I not teaching Psychology or Sociology?
The truth is... My instructors thought my performance was so well that they suggested I seek a career in being a college Professor for Psychology, Sociology, or English; however, I LOVE MATH! Math has been my favorite subject since 1st grade. Most importantly, I also love my children, and they have shown me the importance of the early learning process. I want to make sure every student I encounter has the special skills, confidence, and tools needed to get to fourth grade and beyond, at or past the appropriate level. In my opinion, aside from confidence, the foundation to learning a variety of other subjects starts with Math and Phonics. Once a child reaches first grade, the level of independence needed from Kindergarten takes a huge leap; therefore, if you do not have basic phonological awareness and reading skills, that alone could interfere with your success in other subjects. In addition, math is one of the first subjects that touches the root of 'problem solving' in an early school-aged child.
As I will always say: I am no teacher. I am no instructor. I am no professor. I am just a wife and mother of eight wonderful children (three of which have special needs) that have shown so much progress from being unable to read, write, express letter sounds, state rhyming words, recite the alphabet, count to 100, etc. in the first grade to later being at the top of their classes. Once my older sons got into third grade, their younger brother with autism (first grade) was verbally abused at their school. After that, I took all of my children out of school and homeschooled them all. My oldest boys are now headed to fifth grade, and their younger brother has skipped third grade and is headed to fourth grade.
With me, you may or may not see relevant certificates, degrees, or public accolades. However, you will see 5000% effort, concern for your child's education, consideration, dedication, great results, and the most persistent determination possible in reaching the goal I'm sure we both share.

I've been teaching my own children academically since birth. Although all of our children are very bright, three of them struggle daily with physical and academic limitations; however, my dedication to their education has caused them to thrive to the top of their classes despite any limitation that gets in their way.
