Writing with Matthew H.

Hello there, My name is Matthew. I am currently a graduate student at Washington University in St. Louis, and have just finished my sixth year of classroom teaching. I taught high school English (grades 11-12) for four years, as well as two years of 9th grade civics, and two years of drama. I graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2007 with a B.A. in English (Writing Emphasis). I also studied Japanese Language and Literature, and have much experience with Japanese writing. I have also taken Elementary Education classes, with an emphasis on K-3rd grade. While in college, I worked part-time at a local daycare, so I have experience with that demographic as well. My Teach For America training has infused me with many tested strategies for helping a student to progress in reading and writing within a short time period. This year, the reading levels of my juniors and seniors grew an average of 1.2 years in four months.
