Overview

Hi, there! My name is Maria and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching since 2004 and have loved helping my students reaching their language goals in Spanish or French. I went to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and earned a degree in Spanish and French. In Mexico I had been teaching French for six years. Since Spanish is my native language, I feel especially competent in this language. However, my 15 years of experience working for a French company as an executive assistant to the only-French-speaking directors, as well as my living in France, definitely qualifies me for a solid command of French too. I'm a patient and caring person and my teaching style is student-oriented. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

Our first lesson with Maria went very, very well. My 12 year old daughter really liked the lesson, enjoyed Maria's conversation and said the time flew by! I am very thankful to have found Maria. After the lesson, my daughter told me, "Mom, I just can't stop smiling"! Her weekly Spanish lesson was not always something she looked forward to with her previous teacher but now she's completely motivated again! This change is a very positive one! Maria is very kind, very smiley, encouraging and gave a lot of positive feedback throughout. She spoke at a speed applicable to daughter's level of comprehension. She took the time beforehand to ask me about my daughter's interests and my expectations for the class. I believe Maria has customized her lesson to really grab my daughter's attention and promote a positive learning environment. Thank you, thank you Maria!!!! This is the beginning of something very, very good!

I have known Maria for a pretty long time, when she was a student of Spanish and French at the university. This was about four years ago. I knew nothing about Spanish. It was she, who started to ignite the sparkle of interest in Spanish, which I thought nobody would be able to ever do so. It was Maria's enthusiasm, her ability to patiently explain the differences of "estar" and "ser", always with a smile and despite my many, many mistakes. If you want to learn Spanish from a competent and kind instructor, choose her. You will be in good hands and learn a lot.

It is my first time with a tutor and also my first time to experience an online class. I must admit that I was a bit scared and would not be able to accomplish anything but stuttering around. It was amazing, how Maria, as my French tutor introduced herself, made me feel comfortable not only to face a tutor, but also to help me overcome my "technological" fears. Maria is a kind, very patient and caring tutor. It was fun the way she explained and practiced some of the pronunciation rules and introduced and practiced my first French words. Two of them I would like to apply right now. Merci, Maria. Au revoir.
