Do you like puzzles? Do you like the excitement that comes from making discoveries and connections? Do you enjoy a good challenge? Do you like discovering secrets? You may be interested in learning Hebrew then!
Hebrew is among the oldest spoken languages in the world, and learning it can be like unlocking doors to realms you were never even aware of. Besides being the original language of the Torah (the Hebrew Bible) Hebrew is very useful if you're looking to spend a couple weeks taking in the beautiful banks of the Kineret in the Galilee, shopping in the bustling markets of Tel Aviv, and basking in the immense history and sanctity of the ancient city of Jerusalem.
I have more than three years experience doing private tutoring, and I use a method that is primarily oral repetition. Don't read Hebrew? No problem! We can also learn the alphabet and how to decode Hebrew words. "Chik chak" As the Israelis say.
Whether you're interested in practical Hebrew for travel and business deals, or you're a budding linguistic mystic, I'm excited to be your companion on this adventure!

Dear Potential Students,
Welcome to my page -I am excited to meet you! I have taught private students for about three years now, and I enjoy it immensely. A short biography as it pertains to how we will work together: I spent two years in the world of professional Opera, and three in the Jewish music/clergy world, and experienced music as a powerful connector in both worlds. The human voice is unique in terms of its capability for depth and expression, yet sometimes we don't know how to unlock power of our own voices (literal and metaphorical).
This is where I come in. I offer my clients a way of learning to sing with their unique, authentic voice using a combination of emotional and purely technical tools. Singing is a very vulnerable undertaking, so I take a holistic approach, and I give my students a technique that is easily applied to virtually any genre of music. Whether you want to pursue a career as an opera singer, rock star, pop singer, or you just want to sing for the sheer pleasure of it doesn't matter. What matters is that you sing. Looking forward to hearing from you!

Experience

Private Tutor
Oct 2014 - Present
Park Avenue Synagogue

I design custom lesson plans to fit my individual student's needs and teach a range of subjects from Biblical Hebrew to chanting of traditional texts, as well as coach my students on public speaking and delivery of speeches/sermons.

Voice Teacher/Coach
Oct 2011 - May 2013
Self/Private

I tailored each lesson to my private students depending on their needs, ability, and level in order to build a solid foundation of a singing technique that could be applied to any genre or style.
I taught a technique that helped avoid physical injury and also prevented students from loosing their voices. I coached students in performance and delivery of repertoire, advised on audition techniques, and coached on text interpretation during practice and performance.

I have greatly enjoyed my Hebrew lessons with Malka. She is patient and down-to-earth and clearly has a passion for the language, helping others appreciate its beauty, and for teaching in general. I had never spoken Hebrew before, but from the first lesson, she was already having me recite vocabulary and construct sentences using proper grammar and pronunciation. I look forward to future lessons with her, and, of course, I recommend her to anyone wanting to learn more about the Hebrew language or Jewish and/or Israeli culture.
