Chess

Beginner

I will conduct an initial meet and greet.  Ask some questions about your level of play.  To start with very basic lessons, so as to be overwhelming.  I personally learned Chess, 42 years ago with my older brother as my tutor and he never let me win.
     I began to hate Chess and feared to play my brother.  Today, he refuses to play me.  I've studied for 40 years to beat him. 
     I will ask the student if he knows about the fool's mate and strongly caution him to beware of it and urge him to never use it, if possible.  It is better to beat an opponent with an honorable win than to win because of a cheap trickery.  I will teach anyone of any level of play.
     I enjoy beginners and intermediates because they are amazing when they learn something, the look of that moment when they grasp a deeper principle is highly rewarding.  The game teaches live skills and boosts self confidence, while at the same time keeping one humble.
     I want my students to learn at their own pace.  If they feel that they want to get more advanced in a crash course then, I can accelerate the learning as fast as they are ready for it.  The main thing is I want you to be totally satisfied and happy with your instruction.  I welcome questions as to why I did something.  You don't learn unless you ask.  Failure isn't always the best teacher.

I am an Amateur Astronomer, Baseball Fan, and Love to play and teach Chess.  I love people of all backgrounds.  Love History and will make your lessons enjoyable.
