Italian with Luca D.

Born in Vicenza, in the north-east of Italy, I earned a Laurea in Law at the University of Bologna and a Master’s Degree in Negotiation Conflict Resolution and Peace-building at CSU Dominguez Hills. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Information Society. I am an Adjunct Professor of Alternative Dispute Resolution at San Diego State University and a Senior Language Teacher at the Italian Cultural Center in San Diego. I have taught Italian for over 15 years to beginner, intermediate, and advanced students. I have given lessons in Italian Grammar and Syntax, Literature, and culture. Although my academic research area is different, I love teaching Italian and promote the culture of my beautiful country. During my studies in Italy, I studied philosophy, history, latin and law. I have written academic articles in Italian and participated in several poetry competitions. In every class I teach, I try to engage students in a variety of ways, with visuals (slides, videos), conversation and simulations. Each class I lead has a goal, and each discussion is the result of careful preparation. I want my students to engage the material at hand, and to leave each class with some concrete understanding.
