Placer Nature Center

Developed and coordinated the educational programs. Wrote lesson plans and taught children various topics on nature. Trained and scheduled volunteers.

Sierra College

Taught English as a Second Language (ESL). Taught ESL reading, writing and grammar classes for novice and advanced students.

The English Center

Taught a variety of ESL classes including reading, writing, listening, speaking, and grammar to students of all ages and backgrounds. Also taught ESL in the context of a variety of topics to help students become familiar with topics that they needed to know to be a part of American society. Topics included such things, as nutrition, finances, career skills, using the health care system, and many more.

Diablo Valley College

Taught ESL reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation, and grammar courses. Also taught English 116, a reading course designed to prepare students for college-level reading.

Chabot College

Taught ESL reading, writing, vocabulary, spelling, and idiom classes.

Ohlone College

Taught ESL listening and speaking, pronunciation, reading, writing, grammar and idiom classes at various levels. Also taught public speaking for ESL speakers. Taught English reading, writing and critical thinking to native speakers.

Los Medanos College

Taught English reading, writing and critical thinking to native and non-native students. Also taught ESL courses, including listening and speaking, reading, writing, and grammar. Tutored both native and non-native students one-one-one in reading and writing.

California State University, East Bay

Worked with the same students both native and non-native for a year at a time, progressing them from narrative, comparison/contrast, and cause effect/effect essays to well-developed argumentative essays that included a variety of writing patterns. Students also worked on improving their critical thinking in addition to their grammar and vocabulary.

Diablo Valley College

Assisted instructors both inside and outside of the classroom in a variety of ways, which included working directly with ESL students in advanced reading and writing classes and intermediate high reading and writing classes. Tutored students one-on-one in reading and writing.

Loma Vista and Amador Valley Adult Educaton

Taught multi-level beginning and advanced ESL and conversational French to adults. Designed and taught a six week course on French culture.

Carden West School

Taught French and developed curriculum for all grades at the school, preschool to 7th grade. Developed and directed annual French program, presented by the students for their parents.

WorkForce America

Taught reading, writing, conversation, listening, pronunciation, and grammar to immigrant production staff and managers, using the context of different occupational situations. Taught courses in business writing, presentation skills, team building, cultural diversity, customer service and dealing with difficult people. Wrote course materials and manuals.
