Note: Lesson times and days often available by request. Hello. My name is Linda, and I am an ESL/ English teacher for Take Lessons. If you are reading my profile, I am going to convince you to sign up for lessons with me. So why should you sign up with me? First, teaching is not a job for me. It is a passion. I love teaching ESL and English. My love of languages started when I was a child. My grandparents escaped from Russia to the U.S., during the Russian Revolution. They taught me some Russian and told me about the country that they had escaped from. This resulted in my curiosity and interest in other countries and languages. In middle school, high school, and college I learned French. I also lived in France for a year during my third year of college where I continued my study of French and the culture of France. After graduating, I learned Turkish when I lived in Turkey, and I taught English as a Foreign Language. I have an MA degree in English with an emphasis in ESL, a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, and a BA degree in French, so I have a lot of training in how to teach English/ESL, and I know what it is like to learn a foreign language. Are there other reasons to sign up with me? Of course there are. Continue reading below under "About Linda C."

In addition to an MA degree with an ESL emphasis and English as a Foreign Language Certificate, I have more than 20 years of teaching experience, and I have taught all levels of English and ESL. My students have come from many parts of the world, from worlds very different than my own, but my students have always enjoyed my classes and have learned a lot. I relate well to my students because I have traveled, lived, studied and worked in parts of the world where they come from. I lived in Pakistan for five years where I attended middle school , and my classmates and friends were from Pakistan, India, and Great Britain. I traveled the countryside and visited many nearby countries, learning about the people and their customs, an experience which opened my eyes to fascinating worlds very different than my own. As a adult, I lived in Turkey and Oman where I taught both English (English as a Foreign Language) and French. The experience that I received overseas cannot be read from a book, or researched on the Internet. It is experience that you can only get first-hand by living in the culture and experiencing it every day. It’s an experience that I will cherish forever, and it has helped make me the teacher that I am today. If you want a teacher who creates an environment where students want to learn, who makes her lessons as interesting as possible, who brings enthusiasm to every lesson, who gets her students actively involved in their learning, who makes learning fun and easy, and who teaches you what you want to learn, then I hope that you will sign up for lessons with me. I look forward to seeing you online soon.

Linda is an excellent instructor. She is not only knowledgeable, but she has the patient in helping me solve any questions. In our first lesson, Linda took the time to figure out my concerns about English and determine the best learning plan for me to reach my goals. Her class is fun and very interesting, and most importantly, it works! I highly recommend her if you want to improve your English.
