Discover the ageless skills and therapeutic power of needlework with 40+year veteran of hand sewing.

Hand sewing or needlework is an ancient but durable way of sewing, repairing and embellishing garments. It is also very therapeutic. As a matter of fact most high-end clothing like wedding gowns and designer wear are hand sewn. This gives them the supple elegant finish that we all love. Also, when it comes to clothing repair, especially on knits, hand sewing skills come in handy. This class is tailored very much to your specific need area or goals. From: hemming a garment invisibly, to fixing a tear or a hole in a sweater to hand finishing a lining in a garment. You can learn to embellish your clothing with hand embroidery too. You will feel empowered by the sheer joy of learning to engage your hands in needlework.

About Lily Q.

I am a Fashion Designer/Instructor and former Social Worker, who's very passionate about teaching Fashion and Embroidery. I'm always excited about helping students build skills gradually, from a complete Beginner, through Advanced levels. Also, I am one of the few teachers in the country who teaches the exclusive "Freehand" Drafting and sewing (i.e. sewing without commercial pattern). I also teach sewing with pattern. As a social worker, I taught participants in a homeless shelter, how to make various items geared towards independent living. For 11years now, I've been teaching in the tri-state area where patrons sign up for group sewing lessons as well as private lessons. I teach Garment cutting and construction, Pattern drafting, Alterations, Home décor items, and various sewing projects. With patience, I guide students to create a Scrapbook. This is a Binder full of samples, that capture important sewing skills for future reference. I am happy to help you navigate your sewing aspirations and goals when you register. Thanks.
