If it interests you in learning the Russian language, correcting your pronunciation or spelling, learning how to read, or improving your understanding then there’s no better way to do it than to learn from a native speaker.

I am a native Russian speaker and fluent in English. I have lived in the United States for over 20 years. Having over 15 years of experience teaching Russian I am flexible in adjusting my teaching style and homework to each of my student's individual needs. I have experience with students of diverse ages, backgrounds, and language proficiency levels.

Why do most of us want to learn a language? Probably because we want to communicate with other people in it.

We often teach language through a set of grammar rules and vocabulary lists you need to recite with a teacher.

How effective is this teaching? My answer is not very much. I’ve been learning English for 12 years, through my middle school, high school and college years. It became meaningful only when I started communicating.

Think about how you learned to communicate in your native language. We spoke our language a few years before we open a book to learn how to read or do any grammar exercises. We use the language every day, this is how we become knowledgeable in it and able to communicate easily.

How would you learn a new language? By reciting grammar rules one by one? Or maybe through communicating, learning language naturally as you go? Two different options, which would you choose?

I know and use different methods of teaching depending on the abilities and interests of my students, but the basic and the most efficient methods which I apply are Language Immersion and Communicative Approach.
