Geometry

Levels Taught:
Elementary, Middle School, High School
I've been teaching Geometry for 8 years. I strive to show students the beauty behind mathematics and encourage them to enjoy it. I work with students at their own pace with the main focus being on developing the confidence to be able to understand what questions are asking and how to solve problems. I prefer to spend the first two lessons testing a student's confidence, strengths, and weaknesses before I select the teaching materials. I cannot wait to help you reach your math goals!

Even though my resume suggests that I am a nerd, I am also an athlete and a geek, perhaps bit of a gamer and most certainly a goofball. I can juggle 9 juggling balls, 6 clubs, and 7 rings, I love Madden and Halo. I play YuGiOh! and aspire to play professional Ultimate Frisbee in a year. I have read many of the most popular Young Adult novels and nearly every textbook assigned in my college courses. Sometimes, when I first meet people, they ask what I can't do, because it seems like I have a lot of talents. Well, I'm a cannot draw, or read quickly, or act. I am slow at learning languages and understanding cultures.
I can be messy and can't cook. What I am trying to say is that I understand the struggles of not being good at something. I also have spent a lot of time honing the skills that came naturally to me to cover up my weaknesses. I also know that sometimes extra help is truly necessary to before things can click. And sometimes things will never click, and you'll need the extra help just to keep your head above the water. I have received a ton of help in my life, and I am now in a position where I can finally start helping others, so that's what I am here to do.

I worked with several students in math mathematics ranging from 4th grade math to Calculus B/C. Two of my students went from not being able to complete assignments and hating math to being able to pass their Algebra II classes without any help from me at all. Another student went from struggling with a D to passing her Calculus II class with a B+ and the AP exam.

I developed programs to help children from ages 5 to 18 grow and develop as well-rounded individuals. I spent the most time working with younger children to help with homework and teach them manners and how to play well with others.

I helped students in grades 6 to 8 learn various subjects from English to Science to Spanish to Geography. My main task was to help with all levels of math, from learning multiplication to mastering Algebra I. Many of the students were English as a second language, so I did some teaching in Spanish, but most was in English.

St. Norbert College Multicultural Student Services

I helped my peers in college learn math from Algebra I to Calculus II and Statistics. I worked in an open room for a few hours a week and students were allowed to come in and ask questions in a wide variety of subjects. I answered several hundred questions over the year, with many of them from the hardest parts of calculus and statistics.
