Wasn't the first class enough? Together we can rule the variables, plots, and functions forever!

I've been teaching Algebra for 8 years. I strive to show students the beauty behind mathematics and encourage them to enjoy it. I work with students at their own pace with the main focus being on developing the confidence to be able to understand what questions are asking and how to solve problems. I prefer to spend the first two lessons testing a student's confidence, strengths, and weaknesses before I select the teaching materials. I cannot wait to help you reach your math goals!

About Kyle C.

I have a Ph.D. in Statistics from University of California-Irvine and a B.A. in mathematics from St. Norbert College. I have been tutoring for over 15 years now, starting with my work as a Program Staff at the local Boy's and Girl's Club. Now I just enjoy working with students one-on-one and in small groups. I love teaching and developing educational resources for students. Further, I am trying to develop classes that students will enjoy. I hate when I hear people say that they hated stats or math because of some class they had when they were younger. My goal is to change that by creating a learning system that is enjoyable and efficient.

Kyle is a gem. He's been phenomenal with my teen who has struggled with grasping concepts in Algebra 2 this year and was falling behind. Kyle's kind, relaxed, and patient approach puts one at ease, and his mastery of the subject has allowed him to break things down and explain concepts in ways my teen can learn. His support has been critical for turning things around for us and I am so grateful. Thank you, Kyle!

Experience

Private Tutor

Sep, 2012 - Present

Myself

I worked with several students in math mathematics ranging from 4th grade math to Calculus B/C. Two of my students went from not being able to complete assignments and hating math to being able to pass their Algebra II classes without any help from me at all. Another student went from struggling with a D to passing her Calculus II class with a B+ and the AP exam.

Tutor

Sep, 2012 - Jun, 2013

Boy's and Girl's Club of Greater Green Bay

I helped students in grades 6 to 8 learn various subjects from English to Science to Spanish to Geography. My main task was to help with all levels of math, from learning multiplication to mastering Algebra I. Many of the students were English as a second language, so I did some teaching in Spanish, but most was in English.

Tutor

Sep, 2012 - May, 2013

St. Norbert College Multicultural Student Services

I helped my peers in college learn math from Algebra I to Calculus II and Statistics. I worked in an open room for a few hours a week and students were allowed to come in and ask questions in a wide variety of subjects. I answered several hundred questions over the year, with many of them from the hardest parts of calculus and statistics.

Program Staff

Aug, 2009 - Apr, 2016

Boy's and Girl's Club of Greater La Crosse

I developed programs to help children from ages 5 to 18 grow and develop as well-rounded individuals. I spent the most time working with younger children to help with homework and teach them manners and how to play well with others.
