I am a certified ASL instructor and an interpreter. I have taught ASL to all age levels, from children to adults. My lessons are unique as they are tailored to fit your interests. Would you like to learn conversational ASL or start with the basics? Whether you are a beginner or posses some ASL skills, you will come away from my lessons having gained knowledge about Deaf people and this beautiful language that is now the 3rd most used language in the U.S! I love teaching ASL! I have been active in the Deaf community for over 30 years. I interpret at my local church for our Deaf members and teach an ASL class there. I have been an educator for 22 years, currently holding the position of Special Education Director at a school near my home. In my free time I raise Great Danes, hang out with my adult children and read Christian fiction.
When you take my class, you can expect stylized lessons using exciting curriculum with plenty of opportunities to practice your newly acquired skills. My goal for all of my students is to enjoy learning this beautiful language and at the end of our time together, be able to communicate effectively with Deaf people.

Kristie is an amazing teacher! She really helps you with your goals and makes every lesson fun. She will use different methods to help you learn and retain the signs. She is also an extremely nice person and it is so enjoyable to work with her. I always look forward to when we meet!

Kristie is a terrific teacher. You can see that she has a heart of passion to help other people learn to communicate with the deaf and hard of hearing. I have learned a lot from her teaching and even more by watching her interpret at church. It is a beautiful ability!
