Math with Kendra L.

I teach math at an urban community college, where I have taught subjects ranging from basic arithmetic to algebra, geometry, calculus, and linear algebra. I'm also a parent to a young child, with whom I have lots of mathematical conversations. My teaching focuses on helping students to understand concepts internally, rather than just memorize and mimic steps to complete problems. My real passion in teaching is to help each individual person to take prideful ownership of their understanding of math, at whatever level, and feel joy and confidence in learning. For my "day job" I work with a student body that is incredibly diverse, both in culture and in incoming abilities. Through this work, I have practice in being sensitive to every individual who comes into my classroom. I have a core belief that every student is capable of learning math at the highest level. I've taught many hundreds of students over the years, and I've never met one who has changed my mind on that belief.
