    About Julia D.

Hi there! My name is Julia, and I am a professional tutor based in Los Angeles. I am a lifelong learner and bibliophile, and love nothing more than helping to make knowledge accessible and entertaining for my students. I have been tutoring on a volunteer and professional basis for about seven years now. You'll be amazed at what you can learn to enjoy, and how quickly your memory can improve, with some simple tricks, practice, and true-to-life explanations. I graduated with honors from Kenyon College in 2013, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology, Bachelor of Arts degree in English, and a minor in Integrated Humane Studies. Aside from researching, reading, and tutoring, I enjoy horseback riding, painting, singing, and running. My teaching style is conversational, casual, and engaging- I am not interested in forcing anyone to drudge through their assignments, I'm interested in igniting your passion for academia, making you laugh, and helping you to do the kind of work you can be proud of. I'm available for help in most humanities and social science subjects, including reading, writing, history, anthropology, psychology, and test prep. I scored a perfect 800 and a perfect 36, respectively, on the reading portions of the SAT and ACT, and I was a top-marks honors student throughout high school and college. It's important to me to make tutoring sessions something that you (or your son or daughter) can look forward to, and I will always do everything in my power to make that happen! Learning can become a wonderful, fun, and fulfilling lifestyle, and I seek to inspire that realization in every student that I work with.
