I have taught professionally for 18 years, nine as a tutor. What began as undergraduate work-study bloomed into part time private tutoring independently, with great success. From elementary arithmetic to trigonometry, I've helped many an overwhelmed student raise their GPA! I hold a BA with honors from CSUSB, with an English concentration. I was personally requested by my linguistics teacher for peer tutoring. My one-on-one experience has been predominantly in math and English, though I am open to other subjects because... My teaching has taken me from museum galleries to working farms, and mountain trails to public schools. Whether I hold feldspar by a stream, a paint brush in a school room, or a salamander in an animal gallery, I see people learning best when they smile as they go. I make it a point to see that both occur. My sessions are always a safe, supportive environment in which mistakes are an essential, acceptable part of learning. I learn because I love to, I teach because I'm good at it, and I tutor because it creates the greatest opportunity for success. The true payoff for me is helping my students realize they can achieve what they didn't think they could. I love that!

Jon is cery knowledgeable and comminicated well with us as far as what was going on during our son’s lessons with him. We needed a tutor who could be very patient with our son and identify where he was having trouble. Jon exceeded our expectations and is very friendly. Thank you, Jon!

My daughter always had a great deal of trouble with math at all levels - arithmetic, Algebra, and Geometry. Jon tutored my daughter for several years, in our home, in Arithmetic, Algebra I and II, and Geometry. He definitely shares responsibility for her graduation from Beaumont High School with a class rank of 7th out of about 575 fellow students. Jon is very flexible in his teaching, and excels at figuring out what aspect of math is causing confusion for the student. He is very patient, and is able to rephrase and express concepts in different ways to get the point across. Fantastic tutor!
