I offer a couple of advantage to students. First, I've been teaching Russian for over 50 years, and during that time I'v worked out some ways of making Russian less intimidating for my students. Second, although I speak, read, and write Russian fluently, I'm not a native speaker. What that means for students is that I know what it's like to master a difficult language as an adult. i know how to present the contrasts between Russian and English in a way that makes sense to native speakers of English. Very few Russians know how to do that.

Teaching since:

From the time I was about 12, I knew that I wanted to be a teacher. It's the only thing I've ever wanted to do, and the only thing I've ever done. I taught Russian for 31 years at the University of Missouri-Columbia, and now that I'm a Professor Emeritus, I miss the classroom and want to teach as much as possible.
