English (ESL) with Jeanette R.

I became interested in teaching English when I lived in Venezuela, South America. I had studied Spanish in high school and college, but when I arrived in Venezuela, I discovered I couldn't understand what people were saying in Spanish and they couldn't understand me very well. This is exactly the same experience that many people have when they come to the U.S....right? You've studied English in your own country, but it sounds very different here! I understand exactly how that feels, and my goal in teaching is to help students master the English language as it is spoken in this country, and be able to use it in whatever situation they may find themselves in. I have taught students who want to be able to just speak better, students who need specific English for their jobs, students who are trying to obtain a proficiency that will allow them to succeed in university - in other words, I work with my students to find out what THEIR goals are, and create lessons to help them get there.
