Hi! My name is Jarilyn. Im originally from Puerto Rico and I moved to the US to obtain my PhD. I'm a PhD Candidate in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering (LCSEE) at West Virginia University. I received my B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Puerto Rico.
After completing my B.S. I taught courses on how to use the Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. While working as an instructor I also was working on getting my masters degree. My Masters degree is also in computer science and I obtained it from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico. As a master student I received for two years the National Science Foundation Scholarship, and I also received a fellowship called Nuclear Education Fellowship Program in which I was working as a research and teacher assistant.
After completing the PhD coursework I obtained a research associate position in Oak Ridge National Laboratory. There I worked for four years with the cybersecurity team. Currently working on my PhD dissertation. My research interests are computer security, computer forensics, and cyber physical infrastructure.
Even though, I'm a computer scientist I'm passionate about science overall. I collect fossils and meteorites. Overall, I like to teach and help people in whatever I can.
The instructor was great. The lecture was well prepared and followed my expectations. The lecture started on time and we worked on material that she prepared for me. After few lectures I was able to speak some Spanish! I really raccomend her.
