About James S.
Hey there! My name is James and I am a computer engineering major at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. My love for teaching stems from my love for service! As Muhammad Ali once said, “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” Nothing brings me more joy than witnessing a student’s improvement over time. My teaching style consists of walking students through the basics and setting a good foundation. This is crucial because without proper guidance, students develop poor habits; I can’t stress that enough.
I don’t think of myself as a teacher who has all the knowledge in the world, but merely as an individual who is just one step ahead of my prospective students. The thing I bring new to the table is relatability; I want to provide a safe, fun, and conducive environment for learning. Sometimes teachers with years of experience have a difficult time explaining the material in a way that the average layman can understand. I offer a different approach to teaching by simplifying concepts and relating the information to a student’s topic of interest. In other words, I focus more on practicality than theory. I am very nice, patient, and approachable so don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to assisting each and every one of you with your goals!
