    About Jackie N.

***Background*** My name is Jackie and I love to teach! I graduated from San Diego State University and I got a job at the Children's Center as a Senior. That is when I knew I wanted to work with kids. I went to Azusa Pacific University to earn my K-12 California Teaching Credential and I earned my credential in June 2012. While I was earning my credential I was teaching a 2nd/3rd grade combo class. I am currently teaching as an Impact Teacher. I work with 1st, 3rd, and 5th graders doing reading instruction. I really like to teach any type of elementary math, phonics, reading fluency, spelling, paragraph building, and handwriting. I also like to spend time on study skills because it's important that we equip others to learn on their own. I can help students who are at risk, right on the verge of understanding, and students who want an extra challenge. I try my hardest to make learning engaging and exciting. I am currently wrapping up my Master's in Education and I wrote my thesis about how teachers can make learning fun through the use of games and hands on activities. ***Lesson Details*** I understand that every child learns differently. I will work hard to find out what your child likes to do and what they enjoy. I will test students to find out where they are in the area we are focusing on. Once I find out what the student likes and where they are at, I can work with you to create goals. I will create lesson tailored for your child so that we can meet the goals set forth. Once we come close to completing those goals, I will progress monitor your child and see what we will need to work on next. The time a student spends with me will be engaging and rewarding. My main goal is to build student confidence and inspire lifelong learning.
