I'm an artist and activist, focused on the intersection of racial justice and embroidery arts. I have been working in the fashion industry as a sample maker and hand knitter for over 5 years. My work has been shown in galleries across the US. And have taught classes ranging from basic embroidery and knitting, to workshops helping white folks confront their complicity in racism and white supremacy.
I love getting to combine activism and fiber arts as I find the intimacy created while stitching together naturally lends itself to vulnerable and challenging conversations.
I firmly believe that everyone can learn fiber arts and that everyone has a creative voice inside of them. Each technique has specific rules, but I am also someone that encourages rule breaking, and experimenting to figuring out how best to use the medium for their expression.
