Yale University Graduate with 25+ Years of ESL Teaching Experience

I was born and raised in the United States and have lived in Boston, Washington DC, New York City, and Minneapolis. I earned my undergraduate and PhD degrees from Yale University. I have taught ESL to students of all ages for more than 25 years. I speak English with a neutral American accent (no hint of a regional dialect). As a voiceover artist, I provide narration for TV & radio commercials, audiobooks, video games, and films. I’m able to recognize and target for improvement the specific sounds that cause a non-native speaker’s English accent to sound “foreign.” Our lessons will include not only proper grammar but also advanced vocabulary, use of idioms, and “terms of art” that apply to business, science, technology, travel, academic discourse, and other areas. I also offer unique strategies to prepare students for taking the TOEFL iBT exam. Let's get started!

    About Geoffrey L.

I was born and raised in the United States and have lived in Boston, Washington DC, New York City, and Minneapolis. I earned my undergraduate and PhD degrees from Yale University. I'm an experienced ESL teacher, voiceover artist, and classical/jazz musician. I speak English with a neutral American accent (no hint of a regional dialect). Our lessons will include not only proper grammar but also advanced vocabulary, appropriate use of idioms, and “terms of art” that apply to business, science, technology, travel, academic discourse, and other areas. After a single trial lesson, you will notice progress in the "neutralization" of your accent. This will be your first step in a journey toward flawless, fluent English speaking. Let's get started!
