Writing with Elijah N.

I'm a senior English major hoping to enter into journalism upon graduating from college. I've spent the last 3 and a half years at college drastically improving my writing skills. When I came in, I struggled to achieve high marks, revising essays six, seven, or eight times before I'd submit them. If you'd asked me then if I thought I was a writer, I'd say no. But even now, with all the improvements I've made, I don't say that I'm a writer in that intrinsic way people talk about talents, as if you were born with it in your genes. If I say I'm a writer now, I mean it to say that I chose, I worked, to become a person who is good at writing. It was a difficult, willful process, a conscious development, one that I think any is capable of achieving.
