English (ESL) with Dorieh G.

Anyone who knew me growing up would have never thought that I would one-day love teaching. Let's just say that I was the popular kid in school and not the stellar student my parents wished. But if I was to study, I had decided it would be Communication in college-- learning to build long-lasting professional and personal relationships. I had the privilege of studying in Iran, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and Switzerland. Other than my native tongue of Persian (Farsi), I am fluent in English, and have an intermediate command of French. It wasn't until I was married, and my daughter was born that I had my first student. Now, I have more than 20 years of tutoring experience under my belt. Maybe it was my persistence (or rather my parents’ persistence) that finally helped me enjoy learning and sharing it with others. Or maybe because I was a difficult student, and had exceptionally patient and brilliant teachers trying to inspire and engage me in class that I learned how to be a great tutor. Regardless of the reason, I have become an extremely effective and experienced tutor. My daughter is now working on her PhD dissertation--surly I can take some credit for that too?
