Earth Science makes sense with certified science teacher with 26 years as a public school teacher
I am a NJ Certified Science Teacher with 26 years public school teaching experience. Since retiring, I found I absolutely love online tutoring, and my students look forward to their lessons with me. I build their confidence and understanding. As a professional teacher, I know how to uncover the difficulties specific to each individual and guide them toward success. Rather than just explaining a concept to them, I lead my students with questions and examples so they can solve it themselves. With true understanding, grades naturally improve. I am especially good at teaching how to solve word problems. My online equipment includes a laptop with webcam, 2nd monitor, 4K document camera, headphone/mic, and iPad (if you also have a tablet, we can use it as a collaborative, real-time whiteboard, much superior than the whiteboard provide by Zoom). I can also show you how to use your phone as makeshift document camera, so I can see what you are writing.

NOTE: If a time you need is not listed, please contact me via TakeLesson's "Ask A Question" button on my profile. I may be able adjust my schedule. After 26 years as a NJ public school science and computer teacher, I retired to become a one-on-one tutor. I discovered I love tutoring, and adjust my teaching style based on what works best and feels most comfortable for each individual student. I taught practically every science course during my teaching career, including AP Chemistry. My goal as a tutor is that every session should be a positive learning experience. I tutor math and science online 20-30 hours a week. · Middle School Math & Science · High School Science (all classes) · High School Algebra 1 & Geometry · College level Biology & Inorganic Chemistry. My tutoring philosophy comes down to this: · First, I strive to create a positive learning experience for my students. · Second, improve my students understanding of the subject matter. · Third, well everything else falls into place after those two. Grades improve Attitude improves Self-confidence improves My personal mottos are: Being wrong is wonderful, because now you know more than you did before. You can't learn something you already know. I am really lucky to have found David as my son's science tutor. He is not just a good teacher, he is a great teacher! It is one thing to know subject, and another skill to teach it. David is not only knowledgeable, he knows how to teach. He can get down to the student’s level and impart lessons that the student can grasp and appreciate. He is very patient and encouraging and offers valuable feedback and advice. He is generous with sharing tips and tricks that not only makes it easy but also helps to score. My son loves him and really enjoys the lessons, there is nothing more that I could have asked for. I appreciate that he generously accommodates my requests for extra help with school assignments and tests. I can sincerely recommend David for anyone’s tutoring needs. And last but not the least, thank you David!

David is an excellent chemistry tutor. He is very detail and patient with his student. David will go above and beyond to make sure his student understands each lesson and he really cares for his student. It is not only about tutoring session time but wanting to make sure the student us sucessful in the subject. As parent he informs you regarding your child's weaknesses and strengths. He always available to answer questions. My child's grade increase within a week.

I wanted to share how much Jonny likes your tutoring. His chemistry teacher doesn’t explain the material well, leaving Jon (and the other students) confused. I have listened in on some of your sessions and I have heard “oh, now I get it’ many times. And I see you truly are patient with Jon. I will be referring you to the other parents that I know. I don’t think he would pass the course without you. Thank you so much David!!
