Through reciprocal teaching instructions, fluency and comprehension is mastered via dialogue between teacher and student regarding segments of text for the purpose of constructing the meaning of text. Reciprocal teaching is a reading technique which is thought to promote students' reading comprehension. Filling gaps in math, your student will deepen his/her thinking process, begin to use protocols without assistance and facilitation, and to learn to speak to their work and the strategies they have chosen. Through this implementation, students will also begin to build their strategy 'tool box,' (as we will discuss in the sessions) critically reflect on their work, ask themselves questions, and how to monitor their own progress.
