Japanese Teacher's Assistant

Developed creative methods for teaching the Japanese language to 1st and 2nd year students by simplifying the lessons, referencing pop culture references to demonstrate similarities in the lessons to make it easier for students to relate to the language concepts.

Japanese Tutor

Offered fee for service tutoring to foreign students interested in learning English. Took a different approach to teaching English by focusing on casual speech, instead of formal speech. Stepped outside of the box by incorporating idioms and casual speech into lessons.

English Tutor

I taught beginners Japanese for three years. I worked as the Japanese Teacher's Assistant at the University of Tampa, as well as the school's official Japanese tutor. Within the first few lessons you will be able to both read and write basic Japanese, and by the end you will be converse as well. I typically use the Genki I [Edition 2] textbook, and through the book's website you will have access to wide variety of helpful tools. I look forward to working with you and can't wait to meet you.

初めまして。私はダニエルです。日本の名前は麻衣です。I've been speaking Japanese for four years. I went to the University of Tampa in Tampa, FL and got my degree in Film and Media Arts. During my time there, I was the Japanese Teacher's assistant for three and a half years. I was also hired to be the school's Japanese tutor as well. Japanese is not an easy language to learn but, as someone who went through the struggles of trying to learn it, I can relate to the struggles that you will have and I can help you overcome them. Given my background in film and the creative arts, the lessons will also be fun and interactive.
