- Teaching since:
I enjoy supporting students in building skills to navigate the world, always with transparency, humility and joy. I love learning new things and taking on challenges. I am currently living in Mexico and learning Spanish. A sense of humor, patience and positivity continue to help me learn. I keep a firm hold on my learner identity while teaching. My training was completed through a Masters in Education program at UCLA and I am certified to teach Multiple Subjects in the states of CA and NY.
I am passionate about empowering students and identifying ways to meet individual needs and increase engagement. I have spent the past 14 years working with kids and adults in and out of classrooms in CA and NYC, with diverse needs and strengths, across content areas.
I employ a student-centered and responsive approach that includes learning about the student and what real world contexts are meaningful to them. When students are aware of the choices at their disposal in how to meet their needs and problem solve, they are empowered and engaged. I support students in developing specific, personal mini-goals and checking for understanding in multiple ways. We work to develop various entry points for understanding and give attention to the process (not just the product) and a means for recognizing their own growth in understanding.
