Experience
English Academy Owner
Feb, 2016 - PresentDMC English
I own and run an English academy in Korea. I usually have 40 to 50 students enrolled in my academy. I am responsible to make the curriculum for all lessons. I also regularly consult with students to give them feedback on how they are doing. I frequently reflect upon my students' progress and guide them so that they can continue to improve every month.
English Academy Teacher
Jan, 2013 - Jan, 2014Chungdahm English
Chungdahm English is one of the top English academies in Korea. I worked here for one year. During my time here I gained a lot of effective teaching skills that I then carried over into my personal lessons. The training at Chungdahm was absolutely great. In the end though I found that I felt most effective when I was in charge of my own lessons. Therefore I decided put more focus on my private lessons after having worked at Chungdahm for one year.
English Youtube Teacher
Jan, 2013 - Feb, 2016Dive Into New English
I worked on a Youtube channel called Diveintonewenglish for about three years. I still occasionally upload videos to it. However, in the beginning of 2016 I decided to put more focus into the English academy that I was starting up. I geared the Youtube channel to Koreans and therefore most of the videos are in Korean. I also tried to make the videos entertaining for people who might usually be reluctant to study English otherwise. My live and online classroom style is more systematic than what you would find in these videos. However, as in the videos I do like to get my students excited about studying English. Freelance Teacher
Jan, 2010 - Mar, 2016Self Employed
I started my English teaching career working as a freelance teacher in Asia. I have taught English in a variety of settings and with various students: 1:1 with business workers, North Korean refugees, preschool students, high school students, group classes with Korean housewives I have also taught various things such as: OPIC preparation, TOEFL speaking, English portion of the Korean SAT, conversational classes, beginner phonics, strategic reading, and so forth. I have found that working with a variety of students and in various settings has helped make me a more well rounded teacher. I have a large array of teaching skills that I will use in our lessons.
Elementary School Teacher Assistant
Jan, 2009 - Jan, 2010Isla Vista Elementary
I started my teaching career nearly 10 years ago working as an elementary school teacher assistant. I was required to help students one on one with things such as reading and vocabulary. I have come a long way since then but still this first year of teaching was very important in helping me be where I am today.

Certifications
TESOL Certification - Teaching English as a Second Language
Jan, 2013Tesol.Org
Before starting to work at an English academy in Korea, I studied for my TESOL certification. I didn't take the TESOL course lightly and studied it very intently. It provided me with a lot of great tools for teaching. It really helped me grow a lot as a teacher. My test examiner said he was very impressed by how well I did on the final examination. I will give you the same dedication as your English teacher.
