Language is my passion. I am a professor of Spanish with 20 years of experience teaching at college level. I am from Venezuela, but I've lived in the US since I came to get my PhD in Hispanic Literature at the University of Virginia. I love teaching my language and my culture. I teach all levels of Spanish: basic, intermediate, advance, conversation, Spanish through literature, theater or movies, and Spanish for business. I can tailor classes to your needs.
My general method of teaching includes developing speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, while offering an approach to Hispanic culture.

I am a professor of Spanish with more than 18 years of teaching experience at college level. I love words and languages in general. I'm from Venezuela, where I studied journalism. I moved to the United States to get a PhD in Hispanic literature. I'm also a translator. I teach basic, intermediate and advanced Spanish, and also conversation, Spanish for business, and Spanish through literature, films and theater.
Teaching, translating and writing I get to fulfill my love for words, and also I get to share my culture.

Alejandra made sure to understand my prior experiences and why I am interested in learning Spanish. The book she suggested has great learning sections and exercises. Alejandra provides planned exercises and homework to practice basics, vocabulary and reading. I highly recommend her!

Dr. Gutierrez is an excellent Spanish professor. She uses her competency and fluency in the language to teach students in a comprehensive way. She also challenges her students and exposes them to various genres of Spanish literature. I enjoyed the several classes I took with her! ¡La recomiendo por completo!
