Jason’s tenor voice has been heard on countless advertising campaigns and video games.

He was a founding member of the collegiate a cappella group, The University of Rochester Midnight Ramblers, and for several years, sang with Manhattan-based contemporary a cappella groups Invisible Men and Dobsonfly (heard in the film “The Rules of Attraction”).

A musician in his own right, he has studied percussion, piano, musicology, theory and composition, and maintains a collection of unusual instruments from his travels abroad.

About Jason

My teaching approach: I'll help you figure out your musical goals, and customize a lesson plan to get you there (ex: performance technique, music theory, music business coaching, musicology, exploring new musical genres, song selection and interpretation).

Jason vocally coached me during many studio sessions over the years. Not only is he an excellent musician in diverse genres, but he is patient, attentive, and communicates clearly. He knows how to give the right amount of support to help vocalists find their very best sound and style for a particular genre. I would recommend Jason for any singer looking to generally improve their voice, prepare for an audition, recording, or performance.

Rebecca is not only professional and patient but she is an expert at identifying the best vocal exercises to address your specific weaknesses. She would make a perfect teacher for beginners, experienced singers and anyone in between. I've been a student for about 10 lessons and have noticed a big difference!

Each student is unique, and it's difficult to classify as "beginner/intermediate/advanced" since student objectives are unique as well. I'm interested in understanding where you are on the spectrum for a wide variety of skills, and will work with each student to move along the spectrum on skills that are important to his or her objectives.

About Cindy

Cindy has been making music for as long as she can remember. She was the assistant director of a synagogue children's choir by age 14 and has directed and sung with many community choirs and pickup groups since then. But it wasn't until 1996 that she discovered the autoharp and began teaching and

Cindy is an amazing fiddle teacher. I came to her for help in learning old-time fiddle technique. I wanted something more than just learning the tune. Cindy is helping me improve my bowing style, be a better listener, and achieve a sound I always dreamed of but didn't know how to do.

When it comes to teachers, Cindy is the best of the best. She'll lay out exercises to build your skill step by step. If you love old-time music and want to excel at playing the fiddle, Cindy's your gal.
Marybeth M.
Cindy is teaching me how to play Old Time fiddle tunes and technique in the cross tune of GDGD. I find her to be an instructor that is both process-oriented (providing information about the music background"what, when, who, why") and product-oriented (how to play/technique). She always begins lessons with a review from the past lesson and the homework provided that she records and sends to me. Her demonstrations are very clear and are at a rate and pace comfortable to me. She provides clear verbal cues throughout the lessons. Cindy is very strong in task analysis, breaking down each tune part, beginning with bowing. Her feedback throughout lessons is both positive-specific and corrective-specific. Every lesson is highly enjoyable and filled with encouragement. I am a retired college professor in teacher education, and I know about the constructs of what makes a high quality teacher - Cindy, demonstrates this to me. I feel fortunate to have Cindy as my fiddle instructor.
Emily
I feel really lucky to have connected with Cindy on takelessons.com during the pandemic. I actually cannot think of another time a teacher has taught me so much so skillfully - and it's all happening over the internet! Cindy has a fabulous sense of humor, she is honest and good at her profession. She's more than a fiddle teacher, she shares a music tradition with wisdom and care.

In lessons with me, you will get a solid grasp of how to sing in your preferred style(s) of music. This includes expanding your range, increasing your vocal power, increasing pitch accuracy (yes, my so-called "tone-deaf" friends, there is hope for you, too!), and increasing your general understanding of how your voice works. I want to build real confidence in you. Believe me, you /can/ sing! I personally underwent years of training to expand my own full-voice vocal range by more than an octave, and I take great joy in seeing so many of my students absolutely blossom into dynamic power-houses. Hit me up if you'd like to be the next one. :)

About Ryan

I love people. :) It's my favorite thing to see students realize, "Oh, I can do this!" and watch them grow! I used to be a very shy individual, afraid to let my voice out (and I see a lot of students who start off this way, too!), but I learned how to overcome my fears and become confident. How do

"Really have enjoyed working with Gregory

It has been a dream of mine to become a friend to my voice and let it delight me. Years ago I took voice lessons and remembered how freeing that experience was. When I found Gregory and started lessons it all came back, the feeling of opening, of expansion, of joy. Gregory has taught me much about my capacity to sing, skills to develop my voice and most importantly hoe to expand out to the world through song. It has been a delight to work work with him over a two year period. He is knowledgable, sensitive and very encouraging."

Eric was just the right person to help me out! Totally fascinated by his manner of teaching! He guides you carefully to discover your own potential, patiently explains what are you doing wrong or shows you strong sides. He feels when to push on you or when to give you rest. Every lesson is so relaxed and so much fun!
I'm getting close to all songs I've counted as impossible to perform before. Although I still need tonnes of practice, I begin to see where to go.

How to Set (and Reach) Your Singing Goals

We all know that setting goals is an important part of music lessons. And as a singer, you're working with a very delicate instrument (your voice!) - so you'll want to set reasonable singing goals and work with a private teacher to monitor your progress. Read on as Buena Park, CA voice teacher Andrew C. describes the process...         We all have goals we want to achieve with our voice. Maybe you want to hit all the right notes in your song arsenal the next time you go to you …
