When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Over the past 12 years, we've given over 3,000,000 lessons to happy customers around the world.

My child was shy with singing in the beginning. Molly made him feel comfortable over a period of time and now and i see a visible difference.
He also has interests in songs outside of her syllabus and Molly has been very supportive of his music choices and encouraged him to sing his favorite songs as well !
I would recommend Molly to anyone who is looking for a dedicated music teacher !"

Our lesson was jam packed full of technique, good practices, and active listening skills complete with a personalized approach to make the lession completely engaging."

I can't help but notice an immense improvement in the quality and control that I have over my voice since I switched from my last voice teacher to Mrs. Hayes. She has helped me improve my posture, breathe control, sound placement, and ease with which I can sing. She has taught me IPA, which allowed me to better understand, pronounce, and sing different vowel sounds comfortably in different languages. She gives such precise instruction that I know that I can only improve even more from now on!"

She is an amazing instructor with excellent teaching skills. She is very knowledgeable and she is very positive and supportive. She is a GEM! :-)
*** Highest recommendation! 5-stars plus!!!! *****"

One of the funniest memories I have of my first choir experience was learning how to hum in a choir. I thought it was a little ridiculous as a 4th grader because I thought I already knew how to hum, since I was doing it all the time. However, your casual humming while you work a-la Snow White (for those of us who prefer it over whistling) is in fact, completely different from humming as an actual singer. See, my beloved chorus teacher had us open our mouths as wide as we could, and then clos …

We all know the importance of vocal warm-ups before singing. But we also know how easy it is to start slacking off or conveniently "forget" that step of the process. Warm-ups - and scales, in particular - may not be the most fun, but they are absolutely essential when it comes to caring for your voice and improving your singing. Not only does incorporating scales into your routine help warm up your vocal cords, it can help you to improve your vocal range, increase your pitch accuracy and t …

As a singer, you'll come across songs in Italian or other languages that are great to practice and perform. Here, Pittsburgh, PA teacher Jennifer V. shares her tips for tackling songs as you learn to sing in a foreign language... Imagine walking into a voice lesson and your teacher casually places a book on the table that reads “24 Art Songs”. You open the book to see where the pretty pictures of paintings are and… you see a bunch of unknown words. Your teacher gives you a big sm …
