I have been teaching water painting for almost 10 years..
This is a very exciting class! Students will learn How to Paint Watercolors, How to hold a watercolor brush and Basic Brush Control Exercises etc...
I will get you started and perhaps inspire you, as a watercolor painter. I can supply lessons on the craft and skills, but purpose is what is driving you to want to try to create art. What that vision is, is unique for everyone. The footsteps of the path that lies before you are yours to follow until you can find your own path.

If you are a beginner, I will help you to feel confident on your skills.

I teach what you want to learn. Lessons may include: Basic or advanced techniques. Mixing vibrant hues. Wet-on-wet. Dry brush. Masking. Glazing. Dew drops on flowers. Textures--using salt, layering, sponges, scratching, lifting, etc. Considering your light source. Loosening up. Taking care of brushes. Paper selection. Painting outdoors in the open air, from photographs, or from still lifes. Using your phone to help you edit your painting. All levels--from beginner to advanced. Demonstrations on creating watercolors in the style of famous watercolorists.

Subject matter can include landscapes, seascapes, florals, abstracts, still life, color grids, and more.

Additionally, you can schedule a lesson and let me know that you want to use it as a critique to review some of your work. I recommend the 45 minute session for a critique.

Watercolors for all levels. We'll be discussing color mixing and blending, dry brush vs wet brush, composition, color contrast, mood and theme-ing, and more!

I have teaching art since 2011. Unique to my personal experience, I have several years experience working as an ABA therapist in clinic, client homes, and in public setting. In addition, I have worked from early childhood through high school in public schools in various diverse communities.

As a current MFA student in my second residency, I am up to date with the current social emotional learning needs of students, contemporary artworks, and critical theory.

I earned my Bachelors of studio arts at University of Houston where I minored in Art History in 2017.

Become the artist you always wanted to be! Whether you are an aspiring artist, a total beginner, a kid who loves art, a teen building a competitive portfolio, or someone who's always wanted to learn to paint, I will help you develop your technical skills and find your voice as an artist! In our lessons, you will paint from life, exploring composition, concept, and mood through creative assignments. You will train your eye as you paint still lifes, landscapes, portraits, figures, abstractions, and beyond! I will show you examples of historical and contemporary painting as we practice a range of techniques. You will gain confidence through practice and experimentation as you work towards developing your own style as an artist! And most importantly, you’ll have fun! I can’t wait to work with you!
