Andrew has taught a wide range of students from young (and adult) beginners to advanced university students. His teacher training, education, and playing experience has taught him that good cello playing should not only sound great, but feel natural as well. Because of this, he stresses the physical elements of cello playing in connection with a strong technical foundation, as well as the development of each student's ear and individual sense of musicality.

About Andrew
Andrew began playing cello in the public school system. He earned his Bachelor of Music summa cum laude from Arizona State University, where he studied with Thomas Landschoot, and his Master of Music with distinction from DePaul University with former assistant principal of the Chicago Symphony Stephen Balderston. He has performed in masterclasses for a diverse array of artists, including Andres Diaz, Bernard Greenhouse, Phillipe Muller, and Menahem Pressler, as well as the St. Lawrence, Orion, and Brentano String Quartets.

Andrew has played with the Illinois Symphony, Rockford Symphony, Southwest Michigan Symphony, and Chicago Chamber Orchestra, and maintains an active teaching and performing schedule in the Chicago area.

Andrew recently completed his Book 1 Suzuki Method teacher certification with Barbara Wampner at the Chicago S
uzuki Institute, where he had the privilege of observing and learning from a diverse group of students and teachers.

He is also a coffee enthusiast and enjoys visiting Chicago's many unique coffee shops. In warmer weather, he can be seen biking on the lakeshore path and exploring Chicago'™s many diverse neighborhoods.

Andrew is incredibly professional and patient. He's great at communicating with the parent and the student. He is very patient and even-keeled which worked wonders with my anxiety-prone son. Andrew has inspired him to achieve more than we ever thought possible and more importantly has instilled the gift of a life long passion in the cello. Highly recommend.

Andrew is calm and very patient teacher. I started the cello from a scratch with him and now I can play scales and some pieces. He plays beautifully and he knows what has to be done to improve my cello playing. I will recommend Andrew for anyone who wishes to play the cello!

Suzuki and other materials, traditional bow hold and note reading introduced early on. Opportunity to play in class / group ensemble.

About Tracy
I have been teaching individual and group lessons for 12+ years. Many of my students have won trophies at the Granquist music competition and also play in local youth orchestras. My own youth string ensemble plays publicly at many popular local venues several times a year. I enjoy exposing my students to the finer points of being a professional musician such as the camaraderie, team work, creativity (creating harmonies, tailoring arrangements to fit student’s level) and of course, stage presence. I am very proud of my students. It is so gratifying to see their confidence build with each new skill they master.

*** Lesson Details ***
My approach to teaching is to combine fundamentals with “adventure.” I encourage students to experiment with their instrument and have quite a few budding composers. No two students learn in the same way, so
I don’t use the same strategy for each individual. I believe music should be fun and rewarding. I like to expose students to many different types of music, i.e.; jazz, pop, blues, folk and of course, classical. Students are more likely to practice music that speaks to their personality.

My teaching environment is very laid back. I expect my students to practice, but I don’t read them the riot act if they show up to a lesson not having practiced much the week before. I encourage them to practice more the next week and I give them strategies for how to fit practice time into their schedule along with the most efficient way to practice their pieces.

I encourage parents to sit in on their child’s lesson, but I don’t require it. The more a parent is informed about their child’s goals, the better they are able to assist, support and facilitate the student’s practice. Involved parents contribute greatly to a child’s success.

I love teaching adults too! It is never too late to learn an instrument and the rewards carry over into all aspects of life. As with children, music makes us all smarter. Research proves this. We learn complicated spacial and math skills without even realizing it; we’re having too much fun!

I have annual recitals for private students. I speak Spanish.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Basement studio finished and separate from house

*** Travel Equipment ***
Sometimes music. I can refer students to instrument rental or purchase places, but do not have instruments to provide. I can obtain music for the students if they prefer, otherwise I will tell them what and where to buy.

*** Specialties ***
I use Suzuki and other books for material, but my teaching is more traditional. I use actual bowhold from start. My own invention - pinky AND thumb houses. Music reading is introduced fairly early. A little at a time and it's painless.

I’m an adult with a fair amount of previous musical experience but absolutely none with a stringed instrument. Tracy’s approach for that kind of beginner is ideal. She is firm about establishing sound fundamental technique from day 1 and building on it with practice pieces that provide just the right amount of challenge. She is encouraging and phenomenally patient. If technique problems or incipient bad habits arise as more complicated material is taken on, she is all over them and always has corrective measures to pull out of her (extensive) bag of teaching tricks. I would recommend her to anyone interested in learning a new instrument.

I have been teaching cello since 1989.
Cello students of all ages and levels are accepted at my studio. All levels of the cello repertoire from the beginning through the Major Concertos will be taught. Students will be placed in courses according to the level of their current repertoire. The sequence of repertoire in the Suzuki Cello School will be used to place students.

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

*** Lesson Details ***
I use Suzuki and traditional method for my students... for Suzuki beginner they will play a song in four days....

Never too late to begin learn cello! My lessons focus on both sightreading and aural skills to make a well-rounded musician.

I make sure I am meeting the specific needs of each studedent, help them reach their individual goals, and most importantly make lessons fun.

About Eric
I enjoy sharing my love of music by helping others embark on their musical journeys. I am a strong supporter of using a combination of aural training and sightreading to boost musicality and finesse.

In the past 6 years, I have taught students of all ages, ranging from children to seniors. You are never ever too old to learn the piano or the violin. You may not be the next Chopin, but with practice and dedication, you will eventually be able to play the mass majority of piano/violin repertoire.

Strong fundamentals (scales/chords/arpeggios) are important, but I also remember to make music fun and not boring by providing diverse selections of supplemental (pop/ragtime/blues) pieces.

As a cellist with 16 years of playing experience and 4+ years of teaching I have learned that music can change your life at any age and even can help you heal from whatever struggles life throws at you. Music and learning an instrument can improve your brain functions in a way that no other activity can accomplish. I am so passionate about teaching and customize my teaching style to each student individually because the same approach does not work for everyone. I strongly believe in that and try to get to know my students, who they are, what their strengths and weaknesses are and how I can help to overcome those. I get very involved with my students and build a personal relationship with each one of them to further help them with cello. I've had some wonderful instructors myself including Amir Eldan and Hans Jensen who taught me not only how to play the instrument itself but also how to use those skills that come with being a musician in life.

About Jessica
I am a professional cellist who graduated from Oberlin Music Conservatory in 2016 with Bachelor of Music Performance. Since then I have been playing and teaching cello both privately and in high/middle schools. I teach people of all ages from 7 year olds to 85. I get so much joy from my students' accomplishments and personal growth.
I was raised in Poland and that is where I started playing cello, and later violin and piano as well. In 2008 I moved to USA to pursue my music education. I am also interested in music therapy and healing through music and making it accessible to everyone. My hobbies include riding a bike, swimming , zumba and musical theater!
You can take lessons with me at the comfort of your own home and get better at cello in no time!

I have taken lessons with Jessica my junior and senior years of high school.
I am most grateful that Jessica has helped me become more confident in my playing. She truly understands the cello and cellists in holistic ways, examining a student's playing through body language, patterns of playing, sound, and vocal interactions. Her musical knowledge is vast. Jessica is experienced in the piano, violin, cello and has arranged music. She has worked with various quartets and age groups. She has exercises that are perfect for any level of experience, whether it is beginner fifth graders or advanced high school seniors. Lessons with Jessica are fulfilling, fun, and challenging. She will push a student past what his perceived limits are because she knows his potential. I strongly recommend taking lessons with Jessica if you're a cellist looking to advance your skill and musicianship.

I have studied cello privately for 3 years.
My philosophy derives not only from the specifics of learning an
instrument, but also from the life lessons that music can bring to a child. The child can learn how dedication, perseverance, and self-awareness can result in beautiful music and a more colorful life.

About Kim
Kim Busic is a violinist, violist, cellist, and educator from Libertyville, Illinois. She holds a BM in Music Performance, cum laude, from Butler University. At Butler, she studied violin under Larry Shapiro as well as viola with Richard Auldon Clark and cello with Dr. William Grubb. She recently completed her MM in Violin Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, studying violin under Sharan Leventhal. She has performed throughout the United States, Italy, Slovenia, and Austria in orchestra and chamber groups.
