Hi everyone! My name is Leonardo and I have been a guitar player for over 15 years.

I am inviting everyone to learn all the aspects of learning guitar; from the basics to more advanced lessons which include complex scales and chord structuring. My goal is to analyze how each student best learns new information and consequently design an individualized approach and lesson plan.

My plan with the lessons is to combine key information about the art of playing an instrument with my own take on different aspects of the process. I have designed a thorough course which includes lessons on basic music theory (and how it applies to the guitar), chord playing techniques, scales on the guitar, strumming techniques, and much more.

About Leonardo
Hi everyone! My name is Leonardo Ortegon and I am a Music Producer, Sound Engineer and Guitar Player. I graduated from Full Sail University with a major in Sound Engineering and a second major in Music Business.

I have been teaching guitar for over 10 years and recently decided to provide Music Production and Sound Engineering lessons as well. Ever since graduating Full Sail University in 2011, I developed a habit of analyzing in detail every aspect of music production, so I decided to share this information and guide everyone in the right direction.

I believe that every student has a unique way and speed for learning. That is why I always design a personalized lesson plan for each particular student. I have years of experience teaching children as well and I am aware of the different challenges and personalities kids can bring to
the table :)

One thing I want to express is my passion for music and my interest to share such passion with other people. I have spent countless hours analyzing different approaches on teaching and also how information should be presented. As a result, I am confident my teaching methods will only bring great results, as I will make sure every student will leave every lesson without confusion or doubts on the topics I will present.

About Robert
Robert "Gary" was born in Detroit, started playing guitar at the age of 12, and at 14 began playing bass as well. He has continued to play both for 40 years.
Growing up Gary’s mom was a talented amateur pianist and loved jazz, and his stepfather was a country music DJ so his home was filled with music. Gary’s influences early on included Jazz players like Ray Brown, Jaco Pastorius, Ron Carter, Eddie Gomez, and R&B players like James Jamerson and Chuck Rainey. On guitar Gary was influenced by Pat Metheny, Mike Stern, Joe Pass, and Johnny Smith as well as Bluesmen like B.B. King, Albert King, Buddy Guy and many others. As a kid Gary played in Pop and Rock bands but was lucky enough to have an older friend that worked at a Blues Club in Ft. Lauderdale so he got to listen to a lot of Blues in the early 60's. Being exposed to so many styles
and genres of music, it is not surprising that Gary’s musical resume includes, Jazz, Blues, R&B, Oldies, Big Band, Show Tunes and more.
Gary’s love of music led him to The University of Miami where he earned a Bachelors degree in Jazz Performance and a Masters in Jazz teaching.
Gary has performed with top artists such as Peter Ponzol, Dick Hyman, Don Friedman, Alann Harris, The Boca Jazz Rats Big Band, Terry Wilson, Patty Wicks, Billy Marcus, Mitch Woods, Ben E King, The Coasters, J.P. Soars and The Redhots, Terry Hanck, the Bobby Nathan Band, and more.
Until recently, Gary was bassist for the 2009 International Blues Challenge winning band J.P. Soars and the Redhots, Gary is also an adjunct professor of Jazz Studies at Florida Atlantic University and continues to play locally.

A music lesson with me is, first, an enjoyable experience. While I am goal oriented I believe in keeping the music lesson a relaxed experience. This doesn't mean that I don't expect a student to do his or her best. I do, but , I feel that music should be enjoyable and something that a student looks forward to doing. In the course of our lessons, we will study, in no particular order, technique, theory, rhythm, melody, and any other things that you as a student feel that you would like to learn. We will learn to play and perform pieces of music that I feel all students should know and also whatever pieces of music that you want to learn. The lessons are roughly half what I know that you need to learn and the other half what you want to learn. For example, we might spend the first half of the lesson working on how to read and count rhythms and the second half on learning improvisation, slap bass techniques, chord melodies, or a tune of your choice. There are many possibilities. Part of a teacher's job is evaluating a student's abilities and then strengthening the students weak spots and reinforcing the abilities that the student already has. From my many years teaching and playing I have gotten quite good at doing this and would love to have the opportunity to help you achieve your musical goals in a relaxed atmosphere.

About Lucian
Lucian W is an alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston and former faculty member of the Hartford Conservatory. His vocal studies have been with Jacqueline Jarrett and David Baker in Connecticut, Jane Ellison at Loyola University in Montreal, noted operatic tenor Carmine Gagliardi in New York City, and Gina Moretta (whose students have included Gloria Estefan and Jon Secada) in Miami. He studied privately with world famous jazz guitarists George Benson and Chuck Wayne and has had a full time performing career of several decades as a guitarist, pianist, vocalist, bassist, arranger and orchestra leader.
Lucian believes that by sharing his enjoyment of making music with his students, he can give them confidence in other areas. That is because, in order to make music, they must go through a process of physical discovery through pr
actice. They are then empowered by experiencing the connections between inspiration, work, and pleasure.
He performs, as a solo entertainer, an unusually wide ranging repertoire because of his versatility on guitar, piano, and vocals. Being an accomplished arranger with a vast library of charts also allows him to lead a ten piece orchestra as competently as a trio or quartet. He has performed extensively in New York, Chicago, Cape Cod, and Florida.

I always try to make lessons as comfortable and enjoyable as possible yet challenging enough to maintain interest. I build lessons around the student's individual interests (specific songs or styles) so that he or she can learn the technical fundamentals in a relevant context.
My own curriculum is supplemented by the following:
Guitar: Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Aaron Shearer Classical Guitar Method
Piano: Alfred's Basic Piano Course , John W. Schaum Piano Course
Voice: Jeffrey Allen's Secrets of Singing, Nicola Vaccai Practical Method

*** Studio Equipment ***
Hardman baby grand acoustic piano
OptimusMD1600 electronic keyboard
Crate TX50D guitar amplifer

*** Specialties ***
- Singing lesson time is generally divided 50/50 between voice building and repertoire. I accompany vocalists on both piano and guitar, teaching the melody notes as they are sung along with the piano. Then, once the melody is learned, I often switch to the guitar with just chordal backing. The acoustic guitar is also softer than the piano and lets the singer hear their own voice better. For voice building, I use my own concepts plus approaches of famous voice teachers like Jeffrey Allen, Seth Riggs, and Anthony Frissel.
- I am very experienced performing all styles of guitar and can cater to the student's specific area of interest, whether it be rock, folk, classical, or jazz.
- With piano, I work on fundamentals of reading and technique. Learning basic harmony and chord construction starting with triads (3 note chords), the student can soon read single stave lead sheets (a form of music notation widely utilized by professional musicians) as well as the grand staff. This approach trains the ear and makes learning how to play popular songs much easier.

I like to use Fast Track by Hal Leonard Book 1 it is an easy book to learn from. You learn your notes on all 6. Why because it is important to read music just as it is to play the guitar. Learn your favorite songs. Learn strumming patterns. Strumming is hard so it takes a bit. And yes your FINGERS will be sore for a while but you will survive!!!!

About Melody
First I want to thank you for looking at my profile.
You can read about me below.
If you have any questions please email me through Take Lessons.

About me:

Even though it says my travel is 10 miles max I do make exceptions.

I started music at age 5. My parents were both professional musicians. My father was a professional jazz piano player and my mother a classical guitarist. So it is in the blood. I play a few instruments but my favorite guitar and piano. I went to Nassau Community College for Drama/Music.
I toured in theater groups and also was in a few bands while living in NY. I could not make up my mind so I did both. I love both So. Florida here I come in 1991. Since I was new to the area I starting performing regular basis and became well known in the music community.I also went on a song writing spree. I was also able to do
dinner theater in between the music. I met some people, music teachers from going to the open mics. They encouraged me to go out and start teaching and do what I was supposed to do. How it happened ? I placed one small ad, got a call and from there it grew into over 80 students.I just was referred to everyone it was a chain reaction.
In between teaching I was also in a duo and made time for the touring, local gigs, etc....released 3 CD's.
I was very busy that I decided to open up my own music school to handle the over flow of students. I had my business for 9 years.
I produced a lot of talent from there.songwriters with published songs, singers with contracts, bands the guitarist in the now defunct band Hey Monday with Cassidy Pope. Students that were in American Idol- featuring Emily Booke 2 years in a row top twenty then top ten..
America's Got Talent featuring Amy Profaci, Cassidy Pope.
Played for the Boss in RPB with Odd Man Out, Teen Punk Band since disbanded. Had them out and playing gigs at age 14 the youngest oldest 16 at CBGB's. In NYC. They were on the Regis and Kelly show. Students that started with me at age 5 and stayed for years. A lot are off to college or done with school grown up sort of. When they bump into me and say hey Ms. Mel I'll never forget you teaching me music lessons or do you remember that or I loved that band class you did. You changed my whole life.
I really appreciate it and I did make a difference in their lives.
I also write for TV and Film and have over 30 professionally published songs. Songs playing on commercials, TV and overseas in England. They seem to love it over there a lot of fan mail.

Ok this is as follows.
*** Lesson Details ***
Cancellations : 24 hour notice. Make up lessons are at my discretion.
61 key keyboard are ok for piano lessons.
You must have a piano for vocal lessons if I come to your home. You must have a guitar 🎸 for guitar lessons. I do not supply any instruments or lesson books. You are required to contact me once booked and find out what you will need.

How long will it take to learn depends on YOU!!!!

Practice is the answer not a question. You must be prepared to work to do the work. If you do not understand it we will do it until you get it.
My Adult students this goes for you too.
It is important that you practice. So I recommend cutting down on video games and TV.
I suggest no TV or Video games especially before the lessons are about to start. Very distracting for the kids.
I expect you to be practiced and ready to go when I get there. If you want to be a rock star that's what it takes, discipline.
Its great when a parent can sit in while I'm teaching your child. Remember I am teaching you as well.
You will be helping your child practice during the week until the next lesson.
For the guitar there will be complaints of hurting finger tips.
I cannot do anything about that it comes with guitar playing.
For the like piano, the fingers will not hurt.

After 3 to 6 months for the older student I expect all 6 strings to be complete and chords and strumming on guitar and learning songs of your choice.
Piano - Sight Reading and being able to play with 2 hands in the key of "C" with ease.
This will only happen with practice, And learning songs of your choice if you choose to.

Small ones as much time as they need depends upon how long it takes for them to learn it and how much time mom can help practice.

*** Studio Equipment **
Right up Piano,
Small 15 Watt Amp

**Supplies:
I do not supply instruments for any student. Parents you are
expected to purchase a 61 key keyboard of your choice and finances.Same goes for guitar. We will figure out the size you or your child needs. You must purchase your own books. I use Bastiens Primer A red book, Bastiens A Pink Book, along with these books they also have a theory book , performance book and technic book. Bk 1,2,3 also have a series of book 📚 to work with.

Guitar 🎸 I like to use Fast Track Bk 1 w/o CD. Then again they are becoming obsolete

*** Specialties ***
Song writing/Vocals
Beginner Piano/Intermediate
Beginner classical/intermediate guitar
Folk style guitar
Blues beginner/intermediate
Theory beginner/intermediate/advanced note reading

All aspects of guitar playing are covered. I will teach you to understand what you are playing so that you can take your playing where you want to go with it. From accompanying yourself singing on acoustic guitar , to complex solo and lead playing, as well as rhythmic and melodic electric playing in the various styles of the guitar heroes of today and yesterday. I'll make it happen for you!

About Steve
Music has been a part of my life for over 4 decades. I stepped onstage when I was 15, and have been active in the music business ever since. I was raised in the New York / New England area, and played in many bands in the 70's and 80's, most notably the band AVALON. I moved to Florida in the late 80's and began to develop a one man show, using the emerging technology available. I called the show YIN YANG, the infinite possibility of Music. I chose the name, as it is the Oriental symbol for balance, and used it to represent the balance between the electric and acoustic, and the technology of today with the classic music from yesterday. Midi guitar and guitar synthesis became my trademarks as I pushed the boundaries of how I could express myself on the guitar. Being able to play sax, flute, strings, pianos, even percussion on the guitar to
ok my imagination to new places and enabled me to express myself in ways I didn't know were possible. I grew up influenced by the classic rock guitarists such as Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Alvin Lee, Duane Allman, and used their techniques to springboard me into developing my style. I am also influenced by some of the great guitarists of today, such as Satriani, Vai, Bonamassa, etc. I am fluent in electric and acoustic guitar, slide guitar, open tunings, modal playing, and guitar synthesis. I also can play and teach mandolin, ukulele, banjo, bass, and also harmonica and folk harp. I am working on the bagpipes now. I also give lessons on music technology, audio recording, and music software such as Sonar, Reason, and Finale, to name a few. Music is the passion that feeds my soul, and a decade ago I started teaching, to have a chance to give back to the next generation and share what I have learned along the way. I love bringing out the soul of each new student I meet.

*** Lesson Details ***
When I take on a new student, the first thing I do is to sit down and talk to them and find out a bit about them... their personality, what their influences in music are, what artists they like, and what they are looking to be able to accomplish on the instrument. Each student is an individual, so depending on what they like, I will frame my lessons around the styles and artists that they like, and will incorporate the fundamentals and the exercises around the music that they enjoy. I will use the artists and the songs that excite my students to frame the lessons that we work on. I use music software to create custom grooves for each of my students to practice to, and also sometimes use a video cam to film my student working on a particular lesson that they are having trouble with, so that when they go home, they have an example of themselves playing the lesson, so they can study it at home to get it right. I am a firm believer in learning all the rules. I am also a firm believer, when you know the rules, to break them all. You have to know the rules to be able to break them. I will provide you with everything you need to shine on your instrument. My teaching technique is something that I developed myself, is quite unique, and, if you follow my program, you will progress REALLY fast. But keep in mind, anything good is worth working for, and if you REALLY want this, you will grow in leaps and bounds. Most of my students have been with me on an average of 4 to 5 years, some 9 or 10 years. I look forward to meeting you and helping you make magic with music! Ciao!

This enables me to create musical templates tailored for each student according to their musical interests, what they would like to focus on, and what their ultimate goals are. For example ...lead guitar, rhythm guitar, acoustic guitar accompaniment to their voice, etc. which ends up making for an exciting experience as my student learns their instrument framed around the styles of music that they enjoy.

I teach beginner to advanced all styles of music

About Mike
I teach all styles of music and all levels of ability

As I look back at my life, I see that music was my constant companion. My passion for music, and more specifically for the guitar, goes back to the time when, as a ten year old I received a guitar for my birthday. The sound of the instrument truly struck a chord in my heart and I learned to respect and love the instrument to the point that I thought of it almost as a companion, as something alive or, more exactly, as something my fingers could make come alive. At first I wanted to play rock and popular music, but eventually I switched to classical. When I entered the realm of classical music, a whole new world opened up for me -- new feelings, new emotions, and new challenges.
My enthusiasm for music continued, and beginning in 1990 I attended the Hartt School of Music, part of
the University of Hartford. I knew, of course, that the education of a musician is truly never finished, and between 1995 and 1997, I took Master Jazz Classes in New York City, under the direction of Dennis Cinelli, the international guitar player and soloist.
While in Florida, I attended classes at Florida International University. Between 2000 and 2003 I played in an orchestra on board the ships of the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line.
All along the way I have been teaching the guitar at just about every level, an activity that I always enjoyed but admittedly is somewhat limiting. Teaching brings us back to the basics, but for a musician performing is what makes us grow professionally and satisfy us emotionally.

Where ever you are at in your musical journey, I will meet you there. I have plenty of experience with students of all ages and abilities so I have a deeper understanding of how to make meaningful connections and tools to provide a greater understanding. Whether the student wants serious, academic musical studies or just wants to have fun and blow off steam, I cater to the student's goals and desires.

About Cal
I started taking piano lessons when I was six before switching to violin. When I quickly reached an intermediate level on violin, I fell in love with bass guitar. I am now set to receive a music degree from FAU with a focus in bass guitar. Along the way, I have picked up guitar, ukulele, piano, drums, voice, harmonica, and even banjo! In total, I have about six years of experience teaching - both freelancing and at music stores, and over fifteen years of private lessons on various instruments. I love writing music, learning songs, and teaching students of all ages and backgrounds.
