Jaxon the Guitarist: I am a Doctoral Guitar Major at USC studying classical guitar. I have been playing the guitar for over 20 years and teaching for 15. My main style is classical, and due to the technical training I have had since I was very young, it has been very easy for me to learn and master other styles such as Flamenco, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Country. I have a passion for performing and have played hundreds of solo and ensemble concerts. As a classical performer I have won prizes in numerous competitions, including the Pacific Guitar Competition, San Francisco Guitar Competition, Sierra Nevada Competition, and the OSAA Oregon State Competition. I have played concerts all over the United States as well as in Spain and Mexico. As a performer of other styles I have played in many orig
inal and cover bands and have won high school and University level battle of the bands competitions. I was a Northwest regional finalist in Guitar Center's "King of the Blues" competition as well. I recently won a Fulbright Scholarship to study Spanish and Flamenco Guitar in Seville, Spain for 2015 and 16.

Jaxon the Teacher: I really love spreading the knowledge I've learned over the years about the guitar, bass guitar, songwriting, music theory, and everything music related to my students. I find a huge sense of fulfillment in seeing my students understand and enjoy learning and making beautiful music. I have a high level of knowledge and skills that I am very willing to use to teach students from the most beginner to the most advanced. EDUCATION

My musical education began while sitting on my mother's lap as she taught piano lessons. I began studying cello with a member of the Kansas City Philharmonic at age 9, and at age ten, I followed in my mother's footsteps to play the flute. I played all three instruments, (piano, cello and flute) until high school when it was became clear to me that I wanted to be an orchestra teacher. With this dream in mind, I began playing the violin as well.
I graduated from Drake University with a Bachelor's in Music Education in 1989 and again in 1999 with a Master's degree.

PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE

As a youngster, I was the youngest member of the Kansas City Youth Symphony and the Kansas City Cello Choir performing with these two groups for eight years. I was chosen from applicants nation wide, to perform in Carnegie Hall and trav
el Europe with "America's Youth in Concert" and I was a three time All-Stater.

While attending Drake University, I played in the Drake University Orchestra and the Des Moines Symphony, and I was the winner of the Young Artist Competition awarding me the honor as featured soloist with the Drake Symphony Orchestra.
In 1993 I began playing with the Encore String Trio. This trio plays on a regular basis for weddings and receptions.
I currently play cello in the Encore String Trio, and viola in the Long Beach Community Orchestra.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

My teaching experience includes nearly 30 years of private teaching. I've had the pleasure of teaching all areas of music; elementary general music, band, choir and orchestra. During my 20 years of teaching orchestra in the public schools, I implemented many innovative opportunities for my students such as children's concert which drew more than 700 people in attendance, strolling strings, cello choir and a viola choir, all of which proved to be very motivational for the students. My goal of teaching is to make music fun for all.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe music should be fun. I provide you with several playing opportunities throughout the year, ranging from solo to group playing. I provide large group playing opportunities at Christmas and at the recitals. Every group playing opportunity is accompanied with food and games for all. This studio is FUN!

*** Lesson Details ***
Whether you are studying for recitals, competitions, a music career or just for fun, you can expect equal attention to technique and musicianship in your lessons.
Lessons will be tailored to each students needs which may include flash cards, supplemental materials, ear training, sight reading, technical studies, scales, and solo work.
You are never to old to learn to play an instrument. Over half of my students are adult beginners. Because of this, I provide group playing opportunities and I organize a solo ensemble contest for my students. This gives opportunities to the adult beginners that they missed out on as a child. You will have a lesson by yourself, monthly mini recitals in my studio, and you will have the opportunity to play orchestra music as a group all right here in my studio. You are guaranteed to learn how to play your instrument, have fun and gain great friendships here in this studio. I'm looking forward to introducing you to our studio family.

*** Studio Equipment ***
The teachers studio is in a large room with multiple windows for natural light. The room includes instruments and stands in the middle of the room.

*** Specialties ***
I use the Suzuki method books. I am a classical player and I teach classical music.

Vir is beyond your typical vocal coach. He was a huge help on things like pitch accuracy and phrasing, but more than anything, his focus on getting me to tap into and harness my inner power has already paid huge dividends in my recordings and performances. Further, Vir is an amazing person to know and his home-studio in Berkeley is magnificent!

In Los Angeles, Fawn is the music and entertainment industry's coach known as the one who "gets the job done." Clients have included Grammy and Oscar winners as well as vocalists and actors from The Voice, American Idol, Disney, America's Got Talent, Nickelodeon, X-Factor an
d many others. She has been producing music and vocals in the recording studio, coaching voice, piano, songwriting, rap writing, performance, studio, jazz, blues, classical, pop and artist development for the past 20 years. She was operatically trained by Juilliard instructor Sylvia Bagley, trained as a jazz singer at world re-known Berklee College of Music, where she won several songwriting awards, and was R & B/Pop trained by Vocal Coach To The Stars, Seth Riggs. In 2010 she had a #6 Billboard hit dance song, which she wrote and sang and 2 top 10 hits in 2016. She has written, recorded and performed songs in several different languages for a variety of films, television shows, and commercials such as Nickelodeon's Hollywood Heights, The Natalee Holloway Story, Spike Lee Productions, Barbie, Ponds, Target, Ford, Mazda, Pontiac, The Guiding Light, The Young and The Restless. MTV and several others. Fawn has also sung, written and played in many different styles from Jazz/Blues to Classical to Pop to children's to Opera.

Fawn is a very fun, yet honest and straight-forward coach. She loves working with adults and children, and considers lessons a 'team effort to reach her students' goals. Being that music and the entertainment business are her career and life, she is current and relevant, yet has plenty of old school training to be well rounded and help students build a strong foundation. Music and the entertainment business are her life, and she loves helping people reach their goals and meet their dreams. I had a lesson with Fawn which was fantastic. She helped me a lot with my posture and relaxing when playing. I felt comfortable and I was able to play the piece as I saw it. I had no idea how it was affecting my vocal performance. Next week we start video taping my performances, and then on to endurance training for my shows. Fawn knows what she is doing! She's a true pro. Highly recommend!

Fawn's lessons are fantastic and she strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and fun with her teaching. Most piano teachers will simply try to get you to play the right notes in the right places, but Fawn will always be looking to improve your technique, touch and musicality - giving you insights and advice from the world of professional piano playing. Very highly recommended for anyone - at any level - who wants to improve their piano playing or any subject in music that Fawn has knowledge of.

· Vocal Training · Online
I've been a professional singer for over 12 years, both as a live performer and as a recording artist and session singer. However after experiencing a lot of vocal fatigue, I reached a point where I felt my voice could go no further and that my technique warranted some investigation: it all stemmed from me wanting to record an album, but didn't feel like my voice was truly ready or in top form.

I discovered Fawn from a recommendation from a fellow singer friend of mine on Facebook and have since had a regular lesson every month for the past 2 years. From the get go I noticed the series of warm ups and exercises have helped in creating a more reliable instrument - particularly helpful as I travel a lot performing on the road and am contending with jet lag, air conditioning and rapidly changing environments, like high altitude and such. Because of my training with Fawn, I have noticed a marked difference in the way I perform. There is no longer vocal fatigue or tension and I have improved awareness of my instrument. Fawn really is meticulous in her approach and has been the only coach to improve upon and start giving me the awareness of my instrument, that I have so badly needed in order to improve. Her endurance training and personalized program is second to none. She's an innovator! She creates new exercises to suite you when standard ones don't work.

I know am still only on the edges of what I can achieve, and that there is so much more for me to discover, but without Fawn's help I wouldn't have improved a nano. I can't wait for what the future holds!

I am a producer, and hired Sophia to come to my studio and coach a singer I am working with. She was instrumental in getting the lead vocal takes recorded and creating a positive environment for the singer, which also takes a lot of patience. We got the best takes I've heard from the artist by far. I learned so much in the process as well. Her techniques seem endless in helping a vocalist get the sound they are seeking. She's clearly gifted with an unbelievable and infectious voice which makes learning from her all the more easy and enjoyable. Sophia also has a great ear for vocal production, given her extensive background as a session vocalist. She went to Berklee College of Music so she is also proficient with music theory. On top of all of that she's hilarious and the session was a blast. Highly recommended, she's a monster talent!

As a professional musician, artist and voice over actress, I have won awards, performed my original music at venues & festivals and booked national TV commercials. I have 12+ years background in classical piano, 6+ years as a gigging musician in Los Angeles and 4+ years in recording & production. I also have years of practice in a number of visual mediums, from oil painting to Adobe Photoshop to the newest mobile apps.

With ample experience in both the creative and business sides of being an artist, one of my great joys is equipping others using all that I hav
e learned, and I believe in taking a specialized individual approach for each person and project.

Whether you need help with crafting your work, navigating social media or learning an instrument, I'm here to help you figure out the best of what will benefit you.

I love all the ways there are to communicate -- through language, sound and visuals -- and am so blessed to share the gift of these arts with others!

About Dimitry
My teaching principles are based on outlining the advantageous mental and physical practice techniques revealed through research in Sports Psychology. These methods help my students strategically overcome the numerous psychological obstacles in order to develop a consistently high level of performance.

I share with students my Sports Psychology research that focuses on common triggers for performance anxiety and stage fright. By assessing the students’ performances, I design an applicable daily practice plan which gears to establish better control over the physical and psychological symptoms known to negatively impact performance. Applying these principles also helps in the development of increased control of muscular and mental functions, accuracy, precision, discipline, mental awareness and overall coordination. By incorporating kn
owledge of Sports Psychology in my lessons, I hope to educate about the existing relationship between mental process and physical execution and the impact one has on the other.

For professional athletes and musicians, performing under pressure is an inescapable element of their careers. Given the current levels of performance excellence and the consequent fierceness of competition, consistency in performance quality is indispensible in attaining the degree of professionalism. This implied link between musical and athletic disciplines is a logical one. Similarly to athletes, musicians must achieve high levels of technical skill, efficient movement patterns, acute focus, composure and extreme concentration, all while maintaining a consistently high level of performance.

Musicians ‘play’ music as athletes ‘play’ sports. Therefore, like sports, a musical performance is a physical activity with extreme demands on technical facility, training ethics, discipline, deliberate practice, structure, dedication, determination, motivation and inspiration. Like sports, it is a form of self-expression, performed in front of an audience and demanding astounding mastery of the human mind and body. Both performance practices provide the performer with opportunities for excellence, though the journey may bring forth intense pressures, challenges, anxieties, fears and psychological phobias. Adapting the methods and principles developed by research in sports psychology, affords tremendous advantage in a musician’s constant desire to elevate, not only the quality, but also the consistency of quality in their performance.

A true professional and a great teacher! I have been taking violin lessons now for 6 months with Dr. Dimitri Olevsky, having switched to Dimitri after having had a mediocre experience with my previous teacher. Wow…what a difference. Dimitri ably blends his extensive knowledge, talent, and seriousness about his craft with a witty sense of humor. He is able to simplify the complexities of violin technique so that it is truly feels accessible. Highly recommended.

Dr. Olevsky was immediately able to improve my playing with direct, practical advice. He is concerned with efficient practice and in making the maximum amount of progress in the time that one has. He is highly knowledgable about the audition process and the real day to day of being a professional performing violinist. I have been playing for 15+ years and find Dimitry's lessons very challenging and stimulating.

I started taking violin lessons from Dimitry two months ago and I can definitely say that he taught me a lot of things I didn’t know before. I had some violin background as a kid years ago and he made me realize what I did wrong and gave me so many tips to correct my mistakes and learn the right technique. There is no need to say that he is really talented and one of the best teacher you can find. I’m really glad that I was lucky enough to learn a lot of things from the pro and had a chance to see him play with me.
