I can teach to play by reading sheet music and/or by ear (which means to play music without needing the sheet music in front of you)

About Judy
I started taking music lessons at the age of 9. It began playing in the church and then I taught lessons in my home at the age of 16. I went on to attend and graduate from Christian Heritage College (now called San Diego Christian College) with a Bachelors Degree in Music and Business. I am now the Director of the Music Department at San Diego Young Artists Music Academy. I direct two youth and children choirs, a male chorus and a great adult choir. I also sing with the Voices of Prayze who travel with Jason Mraz from time to time. As a singer, pianist and as a teacher, I specialize in Gospel piano & vocal technique and repertoire. I also have a great deal of experience in Pop, R&B, and Classical so I am able to help students excel in these genres as well.

It was great! We determined the lowest I could sing as well as about the highest I can sing. She found a good key for my voice, showed me some breathing techniques and picked out another middle range song for me to sing! Can't wait for the next lesson!!

About John
I am a graduate of the Cal Poly Pomona music department looking forward to sharing my passion and knowledge with people who want to express themselves with music!

During my time in university I played piano with the Kellogg Soul Ensemble and the Jazz Combo. I also sang extensively with the university concert choir.

I currently play gigs with a jazz trio and a funk-rock band. I also play keyboard on recordings for local pop and hip-hop artists, and assist with arrangements and choir direction.

I would assess the student's capability and begin with the level appropriate for the student. For new students with no experience, I would start out with simple hand positioning and playing the piano firsthand. We'll learn as we go with fine details of reading notation and techniques. I will introduce one or two subject to cover for each lesson. For students that have more experience and are at the beginner level, I will introduce technical practices and assign a piece of music. As for intermediate and advance, we will cover technical practice, assigned music, and music theory.

About Fang
Hello, my name is Fang. I studied piano as my major for Undergraduate studies and have since finished my studies as of June, 2018. I am looking forward to teaching beginners or intermediate in classical training. I want to teach an all-around encompassing a strong foundation for the piano. This includes playing the piano, techniques, hand coordination, ear training, improvising, beginner theory, notation reading, and anything else that interests my students. All in all, it's about having fun and learning to have fun with the Piano.

With over 15 years of piano-playing experience, and 5 years of teaching, Alec is happy and excited to achieve whatever your child's goals are in playing the piano.

Within the first few lessons, you or your child will be able to:
(1) Understand the Foundations of the Piano
(2) Effectively Read Notes
(3) Recognize Patterns in Music
(4) Use Both Hands Fluidly Within a Song

Alec's foremost philosophy in teaching piano is following the student's goals and dreams, not his own. Whether your child wants to be a music composer, rock-star, or just playing for their loved ones, Alec can bring them closer to that goal.

- You ha
ve the choice of receiving in-home piano lessons, or at Alec's home studio. Should you chose Alec's studio, students will have the opportunity to utilize Alec's hardware and software he uses to compose professional music. His students can easily record themselves playing and in real-time, analyze any mistakes they made

- Learn all the styles of piano; from classical, to jazz, to contemporary and beyond!

- An adult beginner and want to learn? Feel free to join in too!

During lessons I will provide constant feedback and adjust lessons depending on your needs and level of understanding. Students have different learning styles so I will teach lessons that incorporate visual, verbal, and written teaching methods. Students can expect a professional, enthusiastic, and patient teacher that is serious about students learning the subject’s material and also makes learning fun.

About Belinda
I am a professional working artist and I am also a site coordinator for an Expanded Learning program here in Riverside. I obtained a degree in Art Practice from UC Berkeley where I specialized in multimedia installations that included large scale paintings, sculptures, and original music/audio. Due to the versatility in my own work from large to very small scale paintings I have acquired techniques and skills for every scale in between.
I am a strong believer in self expression and visual literacy which gets stronger with the formulation of concepts one builds through inspiration for each painting. I enjoy teaching and learning what my students' interests are and what motivates them. I can help you learn specific skills for abstract paintings to detailed portraits.
Through research I have also learned that individua
ls benefit greatly from creative freedom thus performing better in other academic subjects, learning healthy ways of expression, and mentality feel fulfilled through the therapeutic effects of painting.
If you are looking to work with someone who loves what they do, who is patient, motivational, and can teach you basic to advanced skills in painting, drawing, music, and Spanish send me a message and we start your learning journey!

The first lesson went very well with my daughter. Belinda was methodical in her teaching and approached the lesson with my daughter’s interest in mind. During the lesson, Belinda was able to actively engage my daughter the whole time, and more importantly, her teaching revived my daughter’s interest in drawing. She has already devised future plans to have my daughter practice sketching noses, eyes, and ears so that my daughter may draw the human face later with more realistic details.

I am a performing pianist with years of experience. I teach students of all ages. My teaching includes most of the classical genre. I am able to travel locally. Lessons are adapted to the needs and abilities of each student. I intend to help build students develop good technique, sight reading, performing abilities, and a good ear so they can appreciate the beauty and benefits that study has to offer.

About Dean
Currently, I'm a Political Science and Music Major at the University of California, Riverside. I'm heavily involved in the music department and performance fills a major part of my schedule. I perform regularly in private and departmental settings. I've been a pianist since the age of 5. I had great instruction and after a while it paid off. By the time I was entering high school I started to develop a love and appreciation for the instrument. I found it fascinating; It was like having a whole orchestra at your fingertips. I all realized that all the virtuoso pieces were soon within my reach. I discovered that I could be a creator and an artist and make the music, instrument, and performer become one. It isn't all glory- It takes lots of frustration and tedious repetition, but it can be a meaningful part of a balanced life.

I would like to highly recommend Ivan Shallal as a music teacher for children. Ivan is a gifted piano teacher. He is very well-respected in Rochester Hills and Troy, Michigan. This community is extremely fortunate to have a music teacher of his caliber to teach in this area.

Ivan is passionate about music. His love for the art is evident in his enthusiastic and energetic teaching techniques. He is exceedingly patient with all students, encourages them, and coaxes the very best effort from each one. Although he is one of the best music teachers in the zone, his prices are extremely reasonable. In my opinion, he is worth every penny he charges, and I certainly believe I have received excellent service for my money.

It is my great pleasure to recommend Ivan Shallal as a music teacher. I am tremendously grateful to him for everything he has taught my daughter.

Ivan was an absolutely wonderful Piano teacher to my son, who was 3-4 years old at the time. Ivan was the piano teacher for my 3 boys ages 14, 12 and 7 years old for about 2 years. Before Ivan, my kids lost interest in learning and practicing piano. Ivan was able to engage their interest and make them love practicing. He encouraged them to pick music from famous songs or movies which helped to attract their attention. My kids looked at him as a role model. It was a pleasure having him as their piano teacher. He is a great one. It was a big loss for us when he moved out of the state. He is highly recommended.

Our daughter was cast in her first musical 3 years ago with Erin as director, and she has been taking voice lessons regularly with her from that point on. Erin’s coaching is positive, challenging and age appropriate. She cares about her students so much and has been an advisor and friend to our daughter as she has pursued her passion for musical theater. We owe Erin our gratitude for not only helping Sydney find this path and grow, but also for the incredible technical training she provided our daughter as she applied for OCSA’s musical theater program.
