I have been teaching the wonderful instrument of the piano for more than seven years.

I utilize the Faber Piano Adventures piano series of lesson books that includes lessons and homework in a fun and engaging way to promote retention. I also use the publication A New Approach to Keyboard Harmony to learn chord progressions, sequences, modulations, realization of both figured and un-figured basses, basic improvisation, and score reading. Learning these techniques will help transition students seamlessly to various styles and genres that incorporate the piano, helping you learn and love the piano without frustrating stoppages that often lead us away from lesson continuity.

From there, for intermediate and advance students I use the Hanon Piano Exercises Book to promote correct and precise fingering, syncopation, arpeggiation, pedaling, and key centering.

As a teacher, I strive to help my students develop a mindful and musical ear by stressing a genuine appreciation for music beyond the mechanics of piano instruction. For advanced students, I challenge them with an increasingly more technical and demanding repertoire. For the past several years, I sought and created opportunities for my students to perform in public and build their confidence, such as music competitions and local concerts.

* I will consider 30 minute at home lesson.

About Chiacheng

In 2004, I received my master of music degree in piano performance from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2006, I entered the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of California, Santa Barbara, with full scholarship in piano performance and worked in the

I am able to work with most who may struggle understanding music and or may seem to lack the capability to succeed in the instrument. I have worked with verying students ranging from 4 to 70, not to mention, I have worked with those with cognitive and or learning disabilities, and all my students have succeeded in some form or another. Mind you, these skills do not come overnight, and will not come with one lesson, but anyone can learn piano with the right teacher and direction.

About Adrien

I am a long time musician who has played, toured and achieved a former music education. I have been teaching music both in classes and privately for the past few years. I strongly believe in music as part of each individual’s curriculum, particularly in the 21st century, when society is based on quickly achievable outcomes and most young generations have lost the sense of commitment and patience that music can teach. Teaching occupies a large part of my daily activities. I have been teaching private students (from 3 to 60 years old) since I was a teenager. Teaching middle school kids in Italy has prepared me to the class environment of group piano classes in the US, where I have been awarded a Teaching Assistantship in both schools I have attended in this country. My interest in pedagogy has become predominant thanks to Franco Scala in primis, making me eager to learn new teaching methods, particularly focusing for years on the pedagogical approach of Vincenzo Scaramuzza, who taught the very young Martha Argerich. Thanks to Franco Scala, I was able to closely understand the peculiarities of this method, which I now apply to my own students. Later, ...

Hi!

I studied with Mr. Luca and everything he taught me was life changing. Not only as a pianist but as a human being. He is an amazing performer but also a wonderful teacher. He seeks excellence yet understands that each student is at a different level and moves as it's own pace. I loved being his student and I highly recommend him. Unfortunately, I couldn't continue studying with him because he moved to Miami to pursue his Doctoral degree. I wish him success in his wonderful career as a teacher and performer.

My daughter had the honor to have Mr. Luca for her very first piano teacher. She was only 5 yrs old when she began. Mr. Luca is not only an excellent pianist, but he is an amazing teacher & he is wonderful with young children. I was so impressed with what she learned from him. We miss him so much, but we are so happy for his career advancements, we only regret he had to move from Texas.
Jake W.
Luca has been incredibly instrumental in my current and future success as a musician. As a beginner student his teaching was a major factor in my acceptance to the Piano Department at Texas State University. Without his guidance, and commitment to seeing me succeed, I would certainly not have been able to accomplish the things I have, or be in the position that I am today. I am truly grateful and blessed to have met Luca and I wish him all the future successes he deserves.

"Excellent Teacher

I am an older student and I started to learn to play the piano more than a year ago under a different teacher. I started with Eugene about 4 months ago. I was struggling with the piano previously. But after just 2 lessons with Eugene, I found myself playing confidently. Eugene explains so clearly and everything makes sense to me now. I enjoy practicing everyday now. He is excellent teacher, patient, and very professional. He is always on time."

"Joey has been teaching piano to our now 8 and 11 yo boys for more than a year. Although my kids aren't musical per say and don't tend to practice during the week, thanks to Joey their piano skills are impressive! Without ignoring the theory, Joey was able to adapt his teaching style to their personalities and has taught them to play their favorite songs. My younger son was so excited to to learn Fall out Boy's "Centuries" he would run to the piano to practice! Both boys are clearly proud of their accomplishments and love to show them off to their friends. Thank you Joey!"

6 New Ideas for Piano Warm-Ups

We all know the importance of warming up - but do you actually commit to a proper warm-up every time you sit down to play the piano?  If you're in a rush, it's easy to forget it.  However, an effective warm-up is essential for avoiding injuries, such as tendonitis, and can also help increase the dexterity of your fingers and hands, allowing you to reach certain tough chords. Before you get into the "meat and potatoes" of your practice session, you'll want to spend a good 10-15 minutes focus …
