Watercolor has a very special place in my heart because it is most like Scenic painting which was my career for 10 years before I became a teacher. There are some wonderful, quick, techniques you can learn in the first few lessons. If it is your first experience in art, I would recommend a few lessons in drawing or design before continuing. Watercolor is not an easy medium and so I don't recommend it to students with no drawing or design experience, however, a few lessons in these areas can get you on your way and if your interest is in using watercolor for abstract paintings or design work, then it can easily be incorporated into the watercolor lessons.

In our lessons, you will paint from life, exploring composition, concept, and mood through creative assignments. You will train your eye as you paint still lifes, landscapes, portraits, figures, abstractions, and beyond! I will show you examples of historical and contemporary painting as we practice a range of techniques. You will gain confidence through practice and experimentation as you work towards developing your own style as an artist! And most importantly, you’ll have fun! I can’t wait to work with you!

My watercolor technique involves using water brushes where the water is stored in the handle of the brush. They are easy to use, portable and easy to cleanup.

2. Proper Painting Brushes
I‘d suggest six total in a range of sizes: two size 2 brushes, two size 6 brushes, and two size 12 brushes. One of each pair should be a flat brush (with a squared-off brush tip) and the other should be a filbert brush (with a slightly rounded tip).
