Panagiota did a wonderful job with my 11 year old daughter. She is a beginning violin student that wanted some extra help while school is out. We have signed up to take weekly lessons with her as my daughter was extremely happy with the lesson.

I started lessons with Panagiota as an adult with zero expectations. After completing a year of lessons with her, what I’ve been able to accomplish has far exceeded my expectations. Panagiota is always patient, kind, and encouraging. She always helps point out when I might be developing a bad habit or my timing is slightly off. I’m now learning second position and am on Suzuki Book 3. Panagiota is a phenomenal teacher and if you apply a strong work ethic, I say anything is possible under her tutelage :)

I favor a holistic teaching style, both in the sense that I approach music from the angle of a performer, a composer, improvisor, and a critic; as well as in the sense that I see my role as a teacher,as being one who teaches life, and happens to do so through the medium of music. I developed this teaching style over the years from teacher trainers Allen Lieb and Ecatarina Gerson at the renowned School for Strings in New York City, and the string camps held by Mark O'Connor. I also incorporate lessons I've learned from my interactions and collaborations with teachers, performers, and improvisors in Jazz, Free Improvisation, Hindustani music, Western classical, and American Folk styles. In New York I have had students go on to be enrolled in Julliard. My students have gone on to take teaching roles, become conductors, and perform internationally.

I am an experienced teacher of 16 years! I thrive on finding each student's specific learning style and cultivating a positive and productive learning experience within that. I apply consistent and focused energy in getting my students to strive for their best, and I aim to inspire them to respond in turn with the same focused and accurate effort.

I teach using a modified Suzuki method. This means that, while I do subscribe to Suzuki's "mother tongue" approach, I also believe that education on an instrument requires literacy from a young age. I have discovered in my years of teaching that an early ability to read notes and understand musical theory and form is not a handicap to a student's development, but rather a benefit to the student gaining a richer, fuller understanding of their instrument and music in general.

I believe that every person can be taught, that parental involvement is crucial in the development of musicians from a young age through the high school years, and ...

"An outstanding mentor

Being in my 30's, I didn't know what to expect. I assumed that most teachers would only teach children. Betsy has taught a range of students, from very young to quite a bit older and I've been so blessed to have her sent my way.

She's been patient and understanding of my random schedule (and of my terrible playing), professional, on time, encouraging, always shows up with a smile on her face and a thirst to teach. It's one thing to be excited to learn, but it's another to find such a wonderful person that enjoys teaching the way she does. I also appreciate the fact that she puts her own love for the instrument(s) into practice by constantly having performances in the field as well. It's hard to find this type of individual in any area of life and I'm so glad she's become my teacher."

"I'm an avid fan of hers and attend the concerts she puts on for her students in winter and spring. She only teaches violin, but she is very knowledgeable of music in general and helped me practice notes and counting on piano. She also taught me how to correctly hold the bow for a cello, when before I thought a cello was just a larger violin.

She raves about her students' progress to me a lot. I find that enthusiasm is contagious and I know her love for teaching positively influences her students--just this year I could hear the improvement many of them made in the months between their winter and spring concerts."

Violin Lessons In Queen Creek, AZ

By Tiffany W. - Queen Creek Violin Teacher

My name is Tiffany Taylor and I am a violin instructor in the Town of Queen Creek, Arizona, where we pride ourselves on keeping our country feel in the middle of the city! Taking violin lessons in Queen Creek is a great way to keep our country roots alive. Learning the fiddle means an opportunity to perform music in the nearby rodeo and all the special town events and talent shows. Pieces such as The Devil Went Down To Georgia and Orange Blossom Special always get the crowd on their feet!

By being so close to the city, you can choose to go the classical route as well. I have personally participated in a large number of drama performances as a part of their live orchestra. It is really rewarding to be a part of a cast and become a part of their art through the talent of music. I even got to play in a performance here locally with Lindsey Stirling because I have been so active in the performing community! Talk about star struck!

We have several close community colleges that offer strong orchestra programs that are available to the public to participate and perform in. There are many schools that offer orchestra classes that really help students find a sense of community and friendship and a place they can feel they belong. I played for Basha High School, which is conducted by Ajay Patel; a highly successful cellist who has been the private teacher and school teacher to one of the gals in the up and coming country group FireFly which has opened for Country Thunder recently! Within their stellar program, there are chair tests to encourage the students to keep aiming higher, which makes it such a great idea to have private violin lessons in Queen Creek through TakeLessons!

I have participated in all of the programs mentioned, all the while maintaining lessons with my private tutor. Lessons are an invaluable way to quickly gain knowledge and I can tell you from personal experience that my dedication to private lessons is the sole reason I am successful and can have so many fun experiences with the violin today. Teaching others to have the same love and passion for the violin is something I look forward to every day.

Taking violin lessons in Queen Creek is the perfect forum to begin a relationship with music and to benefit from the expertise of a knowledgeable teacher. I consider violin to be a part of my lifestyle. I have formed lifelong friendships and have so many memories with them growing up in orchestra together. Whether you're playing the fiddle at a rodeo, the violin for an orchestra, or simply enjoying performances from some of our great local talent, I know you won't regret it!

How to Play the Violin Like Lindsey Stirling

The inimitable Lindsey Stirling has shaken the world’s concept of classical music. From sold-out shows around the globe to her top-ranked YouTube video for "Crystallize," she’s come a long way since being eliminated in the quarter-finals of “America’s Got Talent” in 2010. While Lindsey has experienced a meteoric rise in the music world, her success is rooted in the same principles that have guided countless artists to virtuoso status: training with a classical instructor merged with co …
